Well honestly I don't understand some people's cautious nature when it comes to modding cars.. I've got an Nbody story from class today.

A guy I know has a Grand Am, stuff done to it, etc. He decided to put adjustable coilovers on it.. KYB if I remember right... good looking kit, I kinda wanted it, lol. He brought one strut to class because he couldn't figure out how to get it to work. I showed him how to put it together.. ground off spring perch, bottom of coilover rests on a lip on the strut.. seemed to all fit together well.

However, if any of you have ever lowered a car and kept the stock struts, you'll know that it can extend much farther than the spring, so everything is loose-ish when there's no weight o nthe car. He decided he didn't like that, and our "useful" shop manager gave his opinion that it'd rattle going over potholes.

I smacked my face and tried to explain that with the weight of the car there would be no slack on it, and unless he was jumping the car, that there would never be any gaps, because the strut dampens the potholes and won't just let the wheels fall down.

After I explained it to him he still decided it "wasn't safe" and that he might send them back..

I just don't get it guys.. what's with people that are cautious with the things they mod? Give any of us N-body guys a day with those things and they'd be in, look great, and perform as expected and he wouldn't know the difference. I dunno why, I just felt like sharing my facepalm story from yesterday :rolleyes2: .
