View Full Version : Engine Starting to Miss

My 2000 3.4 has developed a slight miss when like just barely accelerating on an incline for example. Once it like died on me and when I pulled over and turned it off and sat for like a minute, it started back up and I drove on in. Blamed it on bad Walmart gas. Put Shell in it and it hasn't died again but it still sorta has that little miss in it under a slight load. Any suggestions? :( Was thinking it was my fuel pump starting to go but a guy has a fuel pump on eBay that he is selling because he said when he thought it was his pump going it was actually his coil pack controller. He hasn't gotten back to me yet to let me know if he was having the same symptoms but I wonder if it could be that? How do you check that? Any other ideas/suggestions or anybody that has experienced a similar issue and found the problem? Plugs and wires are not brand new but have prolly 20,000+ miles on them I'd bet. Thanks guys for any feedback. ;)

Are you getting any codes when this happens? SES/SVS?

No codes. Forgot I had this out there and started one asking about crank sensor or coil paks. :(

My alero has been doing the same thing for a bit now. Other than that slight load it acts 100% fine instant reaction to the pedal. guess I'll check my plugs as I'm at 65k miles and they are still factory..

I put regular Autolites in mine. Was told by a mechanic friend that putting plats in are a waste on high mileage cars.

Are they the Ford ones?
I had 2 misses last night, and I have Ford plugs. About 40 K on them
