Engine break in

Not sure were to put this so i started it hear.I was just wondering whats the best way to break in a new engine i hear to different ways 1)Baby it dont go over 4k 2)Do the complete opposite an run it http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm So which one do you guys think is the best option?

take it easy for a while. everything i've rebuilt i take it east for the first 100-200 miles. but on cars people usually say for longer.

i agree and have heard the same things......you need to hit all of the rpm range so the rings on pistons will seat good, whatever you do, don't strap it to a dyno and set the cruise control.....

Do NOT follow that motorcycle break in procedure.

What works with bikes doesn't always work properly with cars.

I've always been told to take it easy for the 1st 500 miles. Don't go over highway speeds before then and don't rev the motor. Nice and easy to allow everything to seat properly.

Properly built race motors meant for the street are also babied for 500 miles and then retorqued before they can be used for all-out racing.

^^ I just finished breaking my motor in my mech told me for 500 take it easy and try not to stay at a constant speed but to vary it. Change the oil at 500 miles.....also the engine might suck a lil oil during the break in, so keep that in mind....

after i had my motor rebuilt i didn't baby it at all. had it on a dyno 250 miles and one oil change later for tuning. 30,000 miles later it runs better than ever, it's just slow which i attribute to the tune and i lack fidelity in the MMS stage 2 heads since he doesn't flow test them.

Dont baby it yet dont hall ass.

Change the oil @ 500 then at 1500....etc. Look for metal shavings.
