My Alero starts like crap, and it makes me a little nervos, becuase it sounds like its a bottom end knock, it goes away, but it freaks me out, the car also misses for about a minute..

i would definitely changes your plugs, wires and upstream o2 sensor because of all the shit that happened with that engine, and god know what the last owner did with it.

it sounds like a collapsed lifter to me. you may want to have that checked out. my dad's friend has a Chevy Venture and it does the same thing. except for like 10 minutes. it was a collapsed lifter.
