View Full Version : Removing silicon from the outer headlight plastic?
I made a mess when I was clearing my corners. What cAn I use, or what can I do, to get the silicon off of the outside of my headlight? It looks like smeared gum. :(

throw it in the freezer and let it get hard. then take a small screw driver to it, I didn't get all of the old stuff out of mine and they sealed great I haven't gotten any moisture in them yet but I went through about 3/4 or more of a tube of silicone to re seal them.

ellboe grease. rub it it hard and for a long time. if its a thin layer it should peel off little by little. maybe use rubbing alcohol to help.

i think he's talking about on the front of the lens after putting it together, not the groove.

if it's on the lens part, googone OR rubbing alcohol can work. just make sure you wash it when you're done so it doesn't look all foggy or oily.

If it doesn't show and doesn't mess with fitment, don't worry about. It the freezer is an option do that. If not you can do the googone, but if it's more than a man nipple than cut it down with a SHARP razor. After you remove the bulk, a loving heat gun/blowdrier, a cloth, and a tori amos album should get it off.

I got mine off using wife's nail polish remover. That thing removes anything from silicone to glue to nasty stuff on the car body. Just make sure to clean the polish off after.
