ive noticed this noise for a while, but it seems to be getting a little bit worse lately. when i shut off the engine, there is this sort of grinding metal on metal sound coming from, as far as i can tell, the drivers side of the engine. it almost sounds like a shot bearing or something like that. the sound only lasts a second or so, and doesnt seem to cause/ be caused by anything else. just seeing if anyone knows what it could be. thanks

So, the happens AFTER you turn the engine off? Check your cooling fans, when you turn the engine off and they shut down, maybe they are rubbing against something? I can't think of anything else that would be moving with the engine off.

Maybe a bad pulley?

i have a strange feeling this may be, if not the answer to this problem, the answer to another issue im having, which is when the engine gets up to temp, randomly there will be like a vibrating sound. this could be when the cooling fans come on and rub against something. this may have killed 2 birds w/ one stone. thanks.

well it has nothing to do with the cooling fans, but i did narrow down where the noise is coming from. when i shut off the engine, the sound is coming right out of the piping on my WAI. so its something inside the engine apparently. im a little confused, and maybe a little concerned as well, but its been doing this for quite a while, and nothing bad has happened yet.

do you have a sticky/squeaky TB butterfly plate? i would take your intake tubing off of the TB and check out if the inside of that is gummed up and clean it

i could always check that. im guessing ur saying that it might not be closing all the way when the engine is shut off, and whatever the noise is, is just getting past it and i am able to hear it? makes sense to me. ill check tomorrow.
