so today i was driving and the traction light comes on and i just did wheel bearings and dont know why the light is comming on

does it say "trac off" or "low trac"? if its "low trac" then your abs brakes could be engaging because of a loss of traction. this is normal.

I had that happens for a short period of time. Would come on for no reason. I took the shifter trim off and played with the switch a bit and it was repaired lol. I never really knew what it was.

check to see if you gas cap is tight, lol, mine was on for a while and that was what it was

^ that has absolutely nothing to do with the trac off light.

1st off, u might have spun the wheels, abs came on, or u bumped the switch. but i'm gonna assume you didn't.
u say u did the bearings, but did u put in a whole new hub assembly with sensor or just bearings? cause it sound slike a wheel speed/abs sensor going bad. if you did replace the sensors too, get your CHASSIS dtc codes read, not talkin bout the reagular engine dtc codes that generic readers get. u need a tech 2. this will tell you which wheel is screwing up, and what it is doing. your problem could also be a broken wire leading to one of the speed sensors.

example, me. i just had my trac off/abs light on for a while, and when i plugged in the tech 2 it had a bunch of erratic codes for my left front speed sensor. so replace that and all good, right? wrong. i have a wire shorted out somewhere along the line there (don't know where yet, i just read teh zero reading codes today at work) that is causing a problem now.
reason for story, you might have a long road ahead to find the problem. and i'm really bored so typing seems good right now.

^^The speed sensors are built in the hubs as well as the bearing. Once one or the other go bad, you have to change the hub (both).

um thats what it was, why it was that i dunno, i also tightened the lugs on a wheel i played with but how could it sense that

When you replaced the hubs, did you check the vehicle side connectors for the sensors? Sometimes corrosion gets in there making the connection not that great. Might be sending funky signals to your computer.

get the codes checked at an auto parts store, it will tell you which ABS sensor is fried (because that's most likely what it is). Then you can replace your hub assembly/sensor.

correct me if i'm wrong, but chassis codes cannot be read at the auto parts store... you have to go to a dealership for those codes to be read...

yea i know. i'm too lazy to read my post right now but if i didn't say that before, sorry.

ALSO, when you figure out what sensor is acting up and before you replace the hub, pull back the conduit around the wires and check for breaks. i just went down to troubleshoot a C1232 code on my car tonight and it jsut turned out to be a broken wire. easy fix.

I had the same problem....changed out pass side hub assembly......2 days later..driver side went..but i thought the "trac off" comes on with "abs" and "ses" ?? could be wrong....I'm on my 4th hub assembly..and all 4 times 3 light's have came on. Any one know what the resistance is on a good speed sensor vs bad one?

Edit: The GM service manual says the the reading should be 950-1250 ohms.

-terminal 8 to terminal 21 on EBCM harness= 950-1250 ohms
-b/t EBCM harness terminal 21 and ground= OL
-b/t EBCM harness terminal 8 and ground= OL
-terminal 8 in EBCM harness to terminal A on speed sensor connector (the terminal on the right with the clip on the harness up and it facing to you)= 0-2 ohms
-terminal 21 in EBCM harness to terminal B on speed sensor connector (the terminal on the left with the clip on the harness up and it facing to you)= 0-2 ohms

if something isn't right, thats where you look first. its basic stuff.
