holly geez, what a blast...bracket racing on the 1/4 mile

was a weekend thing, i'll post up my slips and sum pics of the cars there later on today...

here's what the alero did with 2.4L, 5spd, 18" rims

my best run was a 16.17@85mph(good thing this was a bi-run, or i woulda broke out, dial in time was a 16.45)

i won first place on the saturday, and tied for third on sunday(the reason for a tie is me and the other guy both screwed up our runs, so no one did better then the other)

i must say i'm proud of myself for doin this well seein as it was my first time ever doin this

sounds like you had fun... i race (bracket) twice a week, but i'm stuck on a 1/8 mile track.

yeah this one's the only 1/4 mile around, everywhere else is 1/8mile...

i know one thing tho, i need stiff engine mounts...damn that thing torques when u stomp on 'er...

i hear ya, but launching at a higher rpm does help me (auto tranny), cause the engine movement happens at the line, while you're holding the brake.... and i only hit second in the 1/8th (barely haha.)

this is the pic with a funny story...dude in the civic beside me was runnin high 13's, got cocky, spun out and lost(for sum reason i'm really consistent)

anyways, when we get off the return lane and back in the pit, not wantin to be a jerk i go over to him and tell him good run and what not...guy looks at me, and just starts bitchin, sayin he wants to take it out on the street and poop...i just look at him and just about laugh at him cuz that's the reason i was at the TRACK, to not race street...so he got pissed and decided not to show up next day...damn street racers eh?

oh ya, another reason i said no, i ain't stupid...dood had a huge ass bottle of nos in the back

Usually punk ass kids with Civics are like that. High 13's is really good for a Civic but his showing off (spining off the line) cost him.

He probably though you were just being an Ahole about the whole thing. Let him race on the street, this way he can hit a tree, pole, person, animal, or just get his car impounded and license revoked.

I have people mess with me on the street all the time, the funniest one are those who race me but I'm not racing, just driving normal, and it takes them 3 block to pass me.

The track is better anyway, no danger and an actual finish line. Cross it first or go home

maybe he did think that, but i mean, i was really polite about it, not sayin it like i was bein a jerk off...ah well...crap happens eh...

but geez, i gotta say, braket racing is addictive...now i think i wanna get a lil more serious about it...like get sum stiff engine mounts, maybe short shifter, and for sure sum diff tires on my stockers..those 18's were hard to pull...

Check out tirerack.com Maybe you can get a package with Lightweight wheels, and maybe slicks?

I bought my wheels and tire from them. Good company to deal with

I got Sumitoto HTR+ (all season) and lightweight wheels for under 1000 shipped.

Just a thought

i'm just gonna get sum ugly ass wheels with cheap ass tires...i'm not too serious about racing to go and dish out a grand for this just yet...thanks for the suggestion tho

I love race days like that. Unfortunately, my track won't allow Points racers to compete in most of those types of open events because it would be too easy for us to win and an unfair advantage against the newbies. Congrats again on your racing. It sucks, though, that you had to pit in the dirt.
