ive been told to leave headers alone becasue aftermarket ones burn up gaskets like crazy is that really true
also i saw someting on ehre aobut welding the header to the motor
does that require a gasket?
is it stupid or smart to do
reason im asking: if i got a aftermarket one from tsudo or pacesetter welded to it, would i have to worry about the excess head burning up gaskets because there wouldnt be one?

1. basically everybody on here who has something done to the engine (besides just the intake) has got the headers. there is nothing wrong with going that route. and they wouldn't burn up gaskets. LOL
2. DO NOT WELD THE HEADER TO ANYTHING! you can weld the downpipe to the rest of the exhaust, but that's it.
3. Most headers come with the required gaskets.
4. if you do it right, it can be a smart thing to do.
5. I don't understand this question at all.

The gasket burning happens when the header bolts losen up and there is leakage on the header flange. One of my friends with a camaro had that happen to him. Just make sure that the header bolts are always tight, and you shouldn't have to worry about this. Or you could get the locking header bolts so they don't losen up
