What Model Do I Have????

It looks like it has all the options minus leather, sunroof, and passenger power seat.

It has the 3.4 and 16" wheels, and it's a 4 door. The inside of the door didn't tell me anything either.

if you're unsure, and the dealer can't tell you what model you have, you might consider decoding you vin....

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) contains three major sections:

WMI - World Manufacturer Identifier (1,2,3 characters in VIN structure) If the manufacturer builds less than 500 vehicles per year than the third digit is "9". The WMI is described in detail in ISO 3780.
VDS - Vehicle Description Section. It contains 6 characters (4th to 9th positions in VIN) and defines vehicle attributes specified by manufacturer. (this part here should answer your question)
VIS - Vehicle Identifier Section. The last 8 characters of VIN define Year, manufacturer plant and serial (sequential) number of the vehicle.
The last four characters shall be numeric. The 10th position of the Vehicle Identification Number is a year code.

i think the program i used was at vinpower.com, although i'm not to sure... they offered a free trial, i tried, i deleted... answered all my questions :thumbsup:

Well I know it's a GL"x" but I don't know if the "x" is an "S" or a "II" or "2".

And I don't know what the difference is between an "S" or a "II" or "2".

Depending on the year. Its probably a GL by the sounds of it.

GX is bottom, like mine. 4 cyl, man windows, no sunroof, leather etc.

GL/GLS can be very similar.

GLS is the top, leather, sunroof, etc etc all the amenities. If you have no leather, no sunroof, I am about 98% sure its a GL. (GL2 maybe, but still a GL)

i have a 99 GL. The only options i dont have are the 16" rims, leather, 8 spearker system, and sunroof

8 speaker??? maybe u meant 6? i dont think any stock alero has a 8 speaker system.... but ive been wrong many times before :)

what i ment is i have the 6 speaker system. I didnt get the sun and sound package

Ya know, one of those VIN decoders would be a neat addition to the site here. We have so many people that come on and ask "what model is this?" or "what code is my color?" This would help with that. Just a thought. :)

I own a 2000, with 15" rims, sun and sounds package, loaded, leather shift kbob and wheel, but NO leather seating. ( probably a GL )

I'm assuming that GL's can be upgraded with leather, and GLS's can be downgraded without it.

Maybe the only distinction is the wheel size? Who knows.....I gotta run a check on my VIN ;)

I have a 2000 GLS but a sunroof and spolier were listed as "add-ons"

I saw a 2001 with the sound and sun and the V-6 but no leather and it was about 1000 more (brand new)
