I decided to just start a build thread for the alero. It will be relatively quick considering the first show is in April, and ASS is coming up in June or July. So the plans are finishing the bodykit and the body work. AED front with shaved emblem, AED rear and AAS sides. The paint is GM black with 16oz of Kustom Shop Standard Holographic flake.
The suspension is going to be easystreet bags front and rear. Im only doing a 2way system this time so the valves im using are ART Ridepro's. Im using a purple Wicked Air Inc's 450 compressor. I havent decided on a 3 gallon or 5 gallon tank yet. Most likely just going to use a 3 gallon and have it painted to match the car. Im using ART 2way Digikit2000 for the controls and switches. And its being plumbed in all 3/8s line.
The interior and engine is completely stock. I just put in UV LED lights for the gauges and for the PRND. The little cubby hole is getting treated to a UV LED also this weekend. The center console trim, PRND, and gauge bezel have all been painted black with MicroPrism flake to match the exterior of the car.
As for the stereo upgrades, Im waiting to meet with a guy that builds custom enclosures. I think I'm going with 2 12" Powerbass with the 1600 watt Powerbass amp. (I will get model numbers and specifics when I get everything here)
These are pretty much the plans for this year, and hopefully I'll have everything listed above done for ASS this year. Im about a week away from paint, and about 2 weeks away from having the rest of the air ride. I will be adding a few little details here and there. :yahoo:
Here's some pics. Starting from the beginning.

no interior shots?
StoopidAlero
03-13-2009, 09:25 PM
Not yet.. There isnt much to see. Lots of tan cloth and grey vinyl lol. Ive got an idea for the interior, but I like keep the inside looking stock. I just dont like the color combo in there.
cherrington17
03-13-2009, 09:29 PM
yeah... i'd love to redo the interior... but i can't find a good color combo that'll look great.
black, pewter.....aaaannnddddd ?

how much did you pay for all the paint
kwhauck
03-13-2009, 11:05 PM
black and black, that's what i'm doing....
StoopidAlero
03-14-2009, 02:26 AM
Well I want to find someone here locally that can redo the vinyl for me. Id like to do it all charcoal and black. Then paint everything plastic to match the exterior. Lay down black carpet, and then eventually redo the seats in a black with charcoal insert. I want to keep it looking stock, but just redo the colors.
And 03alero.. I paid about 300 for the paint shown, and I still need to pick up the 2 quarts of factory black from Automotive Finishes. For bodywork, prep, and them laying down the paint, its roughly 2250. Give or take a few bucks.

Lol .. Yea we can say AED again!
And I actually found a guy here in St.louis. I believe his shop is Dominant Images. Pretty slick work. I wasnt planning on doing any fiberglass, but i think I can afford it with his prices.

i do envy your car cuz it looks way better than mine.
what kind of bumpers are those and are you not getting side skirts?
StoopidAlero
03-28-2009, 04:21 PM
Yea, I have skirts now. They just need to be fitted to the car. Once the weather clears up here and warms up, it will be painted. Im just waiting on my compressor and bags. I still need to get ahold of Jon from ART so order my gauges.

Probably more then the AAS kit huh?
StoopidAlero
03-29-2009, 03:29 PM
Ohhh yes. My kit is the AED front with shaved emblem, AED rear, with custom one-off sides. The sides were originally AAS sides, but when I received them they were broken in half. So they took the broken sides and used them for a mock up. I havent seen the finished product yet, but I basically showed them a picture of the AAS and the OSV skirts, and told them I wanted them with the design of the AAS but the simplicity and sleek look of the OSV.

09-12-2009, 02:10 PM
OK!!! I finally got my car back from paint today. SOOOOO many ups and downs since I started this post. Lets see, I got scammed 1300 on some all star game tickets. Then the following month I got to meet my musical hero (Jonny Craig from Emarosa) here at a local show. Came outside of the venue, and the car was broken into, and tried to steal the whole damn thing! The whole system was stolen. No damage though thank god. Then the very next day, I was at the pool with friends and this gals boyfriend decides to sucker punch me from behind. Needless to say, a trip to the ER and a concussion later, I had came to the conclusion that 2009 is just NOT my year.
Here she is though finally! Just needs to go back in 3 weeks for wet sand and one more gallon of clear. It's 12oz of rainbow micro prism flake and 2 gallons of 2k urethane clear. Still needs one more gallon and the wet sanding as mentioned.
Oh, and I changed up the side skirts, obviously those are razzi's. The custom ones he made just didnt fit the car too well and we were tired of messing with them. :yahoo:

Obviously, I wish I had the resources to do some professional pics, because these dont do it justice. I work weekends so I dont get much time to work on it, but Im hoping come monday I can go to Clean Cut Creations and get my fittings and start the air ride. Id love to have it done by next weekend since its supposed to be beautiful the rest of the week.

StoopidAlero
09-12-2009, 02:54 PM
Yea I hate my tails now. They looked good for a long time but are weathered now. Thinking I might just buy some stocker again. Or maybe wet sand these down and try clear coating them.

The rainbow flake wouldn't be my first choice but because it's different I like it
StoopidAlero
09-13-2009, 10:10 AM
It wasn't my first choice either actually. I was going to do a candy purple on top, black on bottom, with silver pinstrip seperating them. But I always wanted to try the rainbow flake on a black car. So far I've got A LOT of attention. Lol

Not trying to trash talk your ride but it might not be good attention :/ that rainbow flake has to gooooo.....your first choice would have been better.

09-13-2009, 11:35 PM
Actually the attention has been all good. But to each there own I suppose. And the flake isn't going anywhere.

09-14-2009, 12:20 AM
It's different........I like it. I say wetsand and clear coat your tails. Also, may I suggest black painted headlight bezels to complete that look?

It's an interesting paint scheme.

haha ion. My flake isnt that huge. Mines micro flake. .010 hex iirc. And thank chipmunk, If taken the headlights apart wasnt sucha pain, I would totally do that
Afugy
09-14-2009, 06:11 AM
I like it just for the fact that its different.
But you need a sticker to match the rainbow.

Yea, the bad thing is I would have painted my bezels black too, but one of my lights must not have been OEM or something. The damn thing was full of silicone, and I mean full, so I couldn't get it apart. Took a flat blade and hammer and busted the reflector in tiny pieces to get it out. :coolio: The other light came apart just like the how-to says it would.
I like the concept but wish you would have chosen to do a gunmetal or gloss black metallic flake instead of rainbow flakes

I know the feeling...
It's very possible that it'll grow on you and you'll find reasons to love it, but even if you don't, it's paint and it can be changed later on if you like. Don't let the internet sway your opinions too much. :)

I actually really do like the flakes, its something super different. i have never seen something like that and i have never even thought of something like that. and imo the last thing it looks is bad. i think its super bad ass.

I'm just really surprised because your black looked really clean. I might have added a gun metal top with gloss black bottom two tone scheme but rainbow is just not very sharp.

thats because you have in thing born need to "pimp" things.
i bet you love shag carpet too. :glare:
StoopidAlero
09-16-2009, 03:47 PM
LOL... shag would be sweet in the buick. I like it because its different, but I have to agree with you AGT. I've always had single colored paint jobs and went with the clean look. I wanted something wild this time, and for now, its doin the job. I really wish I would have went with the ultra mini flake. I think it would have looked better imo. Hopefully it will look even better after the wet sand and final clear.
And Frank, its not laid out yet. I need my bag fittings, 2 tank fittings, and a relay for my compressor. I just ordered all of it today, so maybe by next weekend I can get it on air again.
