hey i was talking with a few mechs telling them about my issue ive been having about my cat code (p0420)
well as ive said before i had a dealer replace my head gaskets.....well what they didnt do was send my heads off to get tested for warp or cracks, OR re-sureface the face of the head.
so im thinking to myself, they never did that and these mechs are saying well thats most likely your problem.....a warped head with a new gasket will still give you trouble as will a cracked head.
ive been putting this off due to trying to find a new job (finally found one for now) and just been thinking about it alot, such as compression loss....i have all the symptoms...(rough idle,hard starts,power loss, drop in mpg)
right now i have no cat on my car right now just to prove the dealership they are wrong and it was never my cat. (on week 6 of waiting for my headers+cat from S&S)
so i am most likely going to get a wet and dry compression test done on the car this week and if the results are as thought, i might just ditch the motor
and so i ask you guys that know, since ive seen some numbers before such as "1200", "600", "2000" for a whole new crate engine......where should i buy?
ive browsed a little saw prices between 1900-2500, i figure thats not entirely bad but i could of sworn i saw the number 1200... well if 1200 is a realistic price from somwehere, i look at it this way- if i can get new heads that are slightly better than stock for 900$, why not spend 300$ on a whole new crate engine?
