So... Smoke is coming out of the engine oil cap area..

First possible cause: I had a hard time getting the original cap off and when I finally did, chunks from the cap fell into the engine:mad2: I tried to remove as much as possible...

Second I look around the engine and oil is looks like it is leaking (I will take pictures later)

Third the coolant hasn't been changed since I got it in 2001 for reasons I dont want to go into... But it has been sitting in storage for 3-4 years

Any intelligent help would be appreciated, such as what I should do... I have to buy batteries for my digital camera and have them uploaded by tonight of the car running, I really dont want to let it run long cause it was smoking bad yesterday...

Damm this really sucks cause I've been taking care of this car immensely and now this shxt:mad2:

Dude if you have plastic in the crankcase then you might be in for a sticky situation and hefty bill to pay. Coolant can last but the plastic should be the biggest concern. I would think the internal heat would be too great for the plastic plus the moving parts. You might have to remove the covers and get the thing cleaned out at least

I wouldn't be too worried about the plastic, as theres really nothing you can do about it. Change the oil and maybe run a quart of engine flush through it first, thats all you can really do without taking the engine apart.

And you do need to flush your coolant if the car has been sitting for years.

Unfortunately I'm and idoit and let it run after I cleaned as much as I could out without takeing the cover off... IS that bad?  because I know the oil circulates ...

You should just be able to take the valve cover off and get the plastic out, too bad you let it run. Might be worth checking out anyway, it might have just got stuck somewhere. How much plastic exactly? The seal on the cap might now be bad, if part of it is missing...

How did you manage to break the oil cap into the engine is beyond me. Or maybe the 3.4L cap is different than the 2.4, but you do know its counterclockwise to remove? :p

Yea that's what I thought, but apparently Aaron, (which is me), and all his wisdom decided to put it on in some F'd up manner...

Well I didnt upload the pic, but I did get it to the shop on friday before work.

And the guy said yes I have coolant in the engine oil and coolant leaking onto the engine exhaust.

The cool thing about it is that it will be fixed by monday.. New coolant, thermostat, oil, and intake gasket all for $633.00.. Im only guessing, but that seems reasonable..

Thoughts anyone??
