Yes. The picture has the second section on backwards. The piping should be directed away from the exhaust port holes. If it is truly for the L61 2.2L Ecotec and not the LN2 2.2L engine (which is routed like in the pictures, since the exhaust side is at the front of the car, the piping needs to go under the engine and back). Yours just needs to go straight back from the exhaust side.

It's probably going to rust, and that shininess will go away. You should have JET-HOT coat it with a high temperature coating before installing it.

Thanks for looking C2.

I was looking at the pacesetter headers specifically for our 2.2, and there seems to be a difference where it attaches to the engine. Compare these.

different style...

the top is 4-2-1

the bottom is 4-1

the top one is pictured wrong, the bottom portion should be installed opposite so it all goes away from the flange

Yeah I want the 4-2-1 style, pacesetter pic was just something to compare the fit against. I'm going to buy them.

Any alternatives to Jet Hot? Would be a PITA to receive them, ship them back out and possibly end up paying a brokerage (importing) fee twice.

Wouldn't like... High heat tremclad to the same thing?

Just not look as good?

I dont think tremclad will do it. I've emailed a local place that says they can do high temp coatings for headers.

Tsudo makes a 4-2-1 header for the ecotec I think.

Also, on the two pics you posted, I dont think the first one is for the ecotec, as it looks like this one is bolting on the front of the engine in the engine bay, as the second is bolting on the back.

$135 (canadian) to my door. Didn't even pay import/brokerage fees, the guy shipped it as a commercial sample. I'll post up a sound clip when I get them on.

r u saying the header pipin is supposed to go under neath the motor, im pretty sure mine comes off the back side adn goes straight back

Misuseofyou

If it went straight back, it would be going through the passenger compartment. It curves down and under the car.

My engine bay looks awful, so it could use the improvement. Still not sure about getting it coated though, I was quoted $200 for 'ceramicoat' special powder coating. Whats regular powder coating cost? I haven't been able to find a local shop that does it.

No problems with the uncoated steel melting those hoses? The coating wouldn't be for looks, I just want them to last and its supposed to contain heat better.

even coated it's still very hot and would melt wires and burn your hand badly if you touched it while it's hot

but it does cool down ultra quick. in like 2 mins i could touch my header.

Can the factory heat shield be reinstalled afterward?

[ion] C2
02-24-2009, 08:43 PM
not really

you can wrap the header with heat resistant material but honestly how often do you touch the header? if there's wires nearby you tie them out of the way.

with the header? man idk wat kind u got but i had the tsudo's and it was bitch to get in idk if you'll have to but i had to take off the valve cover to squeeze it in... and theres no where for the heat shield to bolt up its connects on to the exhaust mani
