i need a new water pump asap...im going on tuesday to get one done
how much will this cost me?

its a DIY job. Please dont pay anyone to do it. The part costs $20 for a reman pump. 1st loosen the water pump pulley bolts, then remove the serp belt. Remove pulley then remove the three pump bolts. Remove pump, clean gasket material off timing cover, reassemble. If they charge you more than $60 of labor I wouldn't let them do it. I am sure it will be more cause of minimum labor charges but it's too easy to pay more than that. I changed mine in 20 min in a parking lot when it blew out on a road trip.

only problem is i dont really have the time and or previous skill to do much with engines......this needs to be fixed asap and i dont have the time thats the bad part and its freezing here lol ;(

No it really isn't. Pop the hood and take a look at it when you have time. It is three or four bolts to remove the pulley, then just the 3/8 driver without a socket to get the belt off the pullies. You do not need to remove the belt from the car, just out of the way. then three or four more bolts to remove the pump. New gasket and pump then reassemble. Honestly the biggest pain will be getting the serp belt back into place, that is easiest with another set of hands available but once you get better it is manageable with one person.

its actually 4- 10mm bolts to remove the pulley, and 6- 8 or 10mm bolts to remove the water pump, and don't forget to drain some of the coolant.

Oh, and it sometimes helps to leave the belt on while you loosen the pulley bolts. It helps hold it while you break them free.

to get the serp belt loose....

put a socket wrench into the tensior pulley socket, make sure you can push it back toward (that the socket doesn't free spin that direction) and then put a deep well socket w/ extension on the handle of the wrench to give you alot longer of an handle to push on. makes it 100x easier

that is what i thought before i did my own LIMG... it was so easy.... and you dont even need to disassemble the damn engine for this! try it, you will be surprised how easy it is

well guys i succesfully replaced the water pump yay(sarcasm) sadly that wasnt the problem... it appears to be coming from a bolt behind the belt at the bottom of the block next to the bottom most pulley.... its gushing from there... im having the mechanic at my work look at it tomorrow

dope (slap on the forehead) it is the water pump just the gasket i put on was shitty so i bought another one and going to do it today... my mechanic friend at work used a preasure tester and that was the problem, it comes out of the gasket...i hate cars lol

thanks guys i took the water pump off and put on another gasket and as far as i can see there is no leak!
and there is a certain satasfaction from doing something yourself you dont get at a shop
