yes, i own a coupe and i was SUPER excited to have rear seats!

pull the loops from within the trunk down and pop, voila, you can push the seats down

I KNOW! even in a coupe

my brother's friend used this feature to stage a carjacking by hiding in my trunk >_<

I was wondering the same thing a while back. Instead of posting on the internet, I read the owner's manual. You do have to pull harder than you would expect as mentioned above though.

^ true, you gotta pull until you hear it click open, and you have to have something long to push the seat too, to make sure it doesn't close back up on you.

to solve that problem, I took out the latching mechanism altogether. now I can pull the seats down from the inside of the car without even opening the trunk lid.

I was at home depot last week and had a couple staring at me when I walked out with a 6 foot piece of pine and popped my trunk. Saw 2 guys look at me like I was stupid. Reached in pulled the strap and pushed the seat down with the pine, slid it in straight and saw 4 people looking at me like I was an f'n magician lol. Felt like guybrush threepwood putting a ladder in my pocket.

I can fit an 8' piece, or a door inside my Escort. The hatchback makes a big difference.
