Auto Transmission

Does anyone know if you put the transmission in first and just floor it if the car will shift out of first. I know that my parents intrigue does but I'm wondering about the Alero. Another thing, if you put it in second is the shift from 1st to 2nd any firmer.

As I recall, it'll bounce off the limiter in first. If you put it in D2, it will force the shift to D3, but bounce off the limiter and not shift to 4th.
You'd have to ask Overdrive75, I'm not sure if he makes that shift any different or not. Seems not.

i have only floored it in first once and i shifted back to drive right before i red lined, i have no idea if it would have shifted on its own. i certainly dont trust it to.

Mine will hit the rev limiter, but wont shift out of first if I have it in D1

Trust me, the computer is smarter than you. There are tons of abuse protects in there.

no it will not shift if in first.

If you put it into 2nd it will shift frimer from 1st to 2nd.

Yeah, if its in first, it wont shift out, it redlines and bogs down.

If its in 2nd, it does shift firmer from 1 to 2.... I always start out in 2nd when racing. :thumbsup:
