white lithium grease/wheel bearing

this might be a dumb question but, is white lithium grease ok for wheel bearings?

i don't think its made for higher temps like the wheel bearings experience....

actually the wheel bearings are sealed units, you can't grease them...

I'm sure that theres a way to get grease in there, as it can definately come out. One of my bearings had all the grease washed out in one day of driving through flooded waters after a hurricane. But if you're going to consider doing all the work to get to it, just replace it already. 100 bucks and you're done with it, rather than trying to rig quick fixes.

When I had mine put in, me and the mechanic coated everything down there in white grease.


Just to you know... help out a bit.

yeah i just ended up throwing the bearing on and torquing everything down. one thing i do have to do is torque the axle nut to 247. i didnt know my torque wrench went that high lol

Wow, that torque spec is way to high. You'll end up replacing that bearing again soon if you leave it like that. I'm not sure exaclty what you should torque it to, I've seen some other posts on here about it though.

When you torque that lock nut, you're not actually doing anything with the bearing. It's only holding the CV shaft to the hub.
