my center vent cover part is coming off how do i take out the whole thing withou breaking it so i can pop it back in place. i have tried taking it out before but it seems stuck.

there are two spring clips under it, that hold it in place. you need to push those up, to get it out.

which means you need to remove the radio, so you can get them from under the vent.

nope, just a thin flat object. there are 2 on the bottom for sure i don't remember how many on the top. but the center vent is the most PITA one there is.

i've never been too successful going from the side w/ a long screwdriver. i've always had to come from the back of the vent to get it out.... hmm... i guess i'm just unlucky like that.

The official GM instructions do say to remove the radio to get to it as well.

That would be bad ass, I botched up my cubby gague pod I was trying to make and have since ripped it off and made it look all oemish but... now I have 2 Colbalt gagues and a triple gague pod for my a pillar and I dont have the damn sending units to hook up the A/F or the w-temp

buttt.... I'mma do this with ya if you do it..

someone replaced the vent with a metal plate with 2 gauges in it, it looked stupid and i dont remember who did it

Not metal though, fiberglass painted to match....
a few nice days and a LOT of patience should do it :D

or you can just be like the person who had my car before me and just rip it out.. so the next person has a vent that doesn't sit right ;) then it's really easy to take out later!
