ok, so last night i was out with my friends hangin out, but when i went to back out of my parking space, the car went forward rather than backward, so i double checked my shifter and yes i was in reverse, so i turned of the car and tried again same thing. do i put it neutral so i could push it out of the space and it went foreward. so long story short, my tranny is really messed up, mu guess would be a linkage issue other than the fact that the car takes forever to shift into second and then won't get out of second. if anyone has any idea of whats up with my car any help would be greatly apreciated

Well if you lost reverse, your tranny's toast.
Tranny's always lose reverse first, been that way since like forever

Its highly unlikely it has anything to do with the linkage.
First thing you need to do is get it up in the air check the fluid level and look for signs of obvious fluid loss. Like a leaking trans cooler line or solinoid valve.
Second would be to a trans drain and fill with changing the filter and gasket. Dont have it flushed, if its extremly dirty those contaminants can be rammed into the valve body and torque converter and screw it up even worse.
Thirdly I could be a wiring problem like a ground came loose or a connector was damaged or a solinoid valve went bad. So it may not mean entirely the trans is bad, but some part of it.

sounds exactly like what happened to mine. only drive, and it never got out of 2nd gear.( i was doing 70 on the highway at like 5-6k rpms). it was a simple fix tho...new tranny.
