Long story short...I pulled the keys out of the ignition while the car was running a while ago and have been able to get the car started with a remote start then using the key to put in the on position...ignition cylinder has finally died so i can't take the key and put it back in to get the ignition to the on position after i start it with a remote starter....Obviously I need a new key cylinder and / or ignition switch but my concern is this..... 1. If i can find a key cylinder and switch at a local wrecking yard if I install it will it work?.. 2. How does passlock work with the ignition so that the car won't turn off while i'm driving it?..... and 3. Will i need to disable passlock so I can get the car started with the replaced key cylinder and switch?...

Any help would be appriciated...

BTW: I tried to search the forums on this before I started up a new thread about this....

If I were you, Id just get the new switch. They are like 60 bucks, and GM's are notorious for bad ignition switches. Buying a used one may work, but will probably lead to have the same problem again.
