When you replaced the top end did you make sure the o ring on the fuel inlet line was there?

that's what it looks like to me. looks hottest in that area.

i changed my lim gasket and forgot the o-ring. in 10 mins a 1/4 tank was gone and my car was reeking of gas. i was surprised it didn't ignite.

sucks about your car... :(

if the insurance company claimed it a total its for a reason, i fixed many of cars that have caught fire, the engine bay is the worse, the main wire harness, ecm, tcm, fuse box, to much to list, its not worth it,
the insurance company is going to give you blue book, if its not state farm, they use nada, your not going to have enough money to fix this car the right way damage is to extensive

let them take it to the junk yard, get the check and move on

ok heres what you do...

get the insurance money on the 6 cyl.. s/c and fix up the 4 cyl and put the body kit from the 6 on the 4 cyl... and some of the other parts that could be pulled off of the 6
