Ok, so I ordered them a while back, and still haven't gotten them. Last I heard about two weeks ago, the customer support lady replied to my email saying that the headers were being sent to "Jet Hot" to be ceramic coated, and that it would take 7 - 10 days. Well... having bought them on the 15th of October, I'm just a bit worried. Anyone else bought from them and have experience ? What should I do ?

7-10 business days for turnaround... so that's potentially 2 weeks at JET-HOT...

JET-HOT coatings are awesome.

Don't think that stuff lasts forever. It will wear off after a few years, especially in areas with high heat.

The gaskets actually came with it. Just get some locking header bolts and youre good to go. These headers are going on Wednesday, with some new spark plugs too.

Yea, dont worry about it. You might have to wait longer than usual, but they make quality headers. You will be VERY satisfied with them

how do you connect booth headers and cat together?

wearetheromans85
01-14-2009, 07:42 PM
u bolt the headers together where they merge. they come with a flex pipe that u bolt on to the back header then connect to your downpipe. in other words saw off part of the downpipe then clamp in the flex and/or weld it. or just spend the extra money and buy the s&s downpipe w/ the cat so it's all bolt on. i think i shoulda done that.

I HATE THE POSTAL SERVICE.
This is what was in my inbox earlier today.

Ed,

I just got word back from S&S about your headers. It seems that they
were damaged somehow during shipping either to Jet-Hot or back to S&S.
S&S has filed an insurance claim with the shipping service and agreed to
ship out another set of headers to be coated at their cost. They have
also refunded me the shipping charges so later today I will be issuing
you a refund of the shipping cost of the headers.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If you have any
questions you can call us at 847-826-0356 between 9:30am and 4:30pm
cst. or you can email me back at this address.

ok hey all i didnt want to make a new thread about this, but im ordering my headers tonight from MPracing and had a few questions

does it really take weeks for everyone that ordered headers to get thiers? if so i might buy a stainless stell catback in that time so it can all bolt together

i was wanting to run a tool check to install all this my self, and besides a sparkplug socket and some normal sockets are thier any specialty tools needed or precations or even heads up i should know about ahead of time so i can be prepared?

also the link cliff posted for the locking bolts just wanted to double check if those are the exact ones that will fit without a problem

Header installation really isn't that hard even from the top. It will speed things along nicely with a lift but it is not needed. Granted this is the case if everything lines up...but from what I have seen the S&S headers don't have fitment issues like the last batch of TOG's.

Yea, the guy who put my headers on said they were the nicest/best fitting headers he's ever done. No fitment issues with S&S headers, they are top of the line! (for $900 they better fit right;) )

is there welding involved if you only get the S&S headers? or do you have to get the downpipe and high flow cat as well to avoid welding? I don't know, I think I remember reading that somewhere on here...

wearetheromans85
01-27-2009, 01:09 PM
if u buy the headers w/o the cat like i did..., youll have to weld the flex pipe to the existing cat or just buy a new one. id just spend the extra money and get the flex/cat dealio. prob gonna need an o2 sim too. i know magna cats dont trip the SES light but i dunno bout the s&s one.

billytheman1188

just get the ceramic coated with high flow cat and you have everything you need;) One of the best mods ive done to Ruby:coolio:

I figure this is the S&S Header random post thread haha, my gasket between the flex tube and cat has a leak, so I'm trying to get a replacement, also, these are excellent bolts that I recommend for the headers and havent leaked or anything :)

Hi all I know I dont show up here much at all but Matt told me last night that there were some people here with orders they had questions about...
if you have a question I can answer it here but I am gonna need you to at least post an order # so I can look up to see who you are.

If you have emailed us in regards to your order but we have not contacted you back most likely this is due to the email sever issues we have been having since basically the beginning of this year.

If you dont want to discuss your order here please feel free to call us at 847-826-0356 (was posted by someone else earlier in the thread) if when you call you get our voicemail please leave us your order # and phone # we can call you back at and I will call you asap.

Everyone can rest assured that all orders are being fulfilled

Edit: I would also like to note to wearetheromans that the last email we got from you was on the Feb 24th to which we responded.

also for those with header orders please know that S&S only operates from mon-thurs and is closed for almost all calendar holidays.

kind of a stupid question but the first time you turn the car on after installing the headers are they suppose to smoke? I checked all my gasket seals so I'm thinking its the headers themselves trying to break in?

mfuller
03-25-2009, 09:26 PM
If they are coated, they will probably smoke and smell for a bit while everything gets broken in. You should checks all your bolts for tightness after a few heat cycles and checks for leaks again.

wearetheromans85
03-25-2009, 10:10 PM
ah ok i feel lil bit better. i tripled checked the bolts & gaskets so im guessin the headers just need to break in.

sounds to me like the bolts you bolt the headers on with.. cause if those fell off, well that'd just plain suck now wouldn't it.

75$ is probly the cost of the entire set-

wearetheromans85
04-08-2009, 08:54 PM
locking header bolts you tighten twice. there's a screw in the center of the main screw. secures the seal better.

Cliff8928

neat.

is that really that much better then standard?

Sometimes they will come loose due to the different expansion and contraction rates of the headers/flanges and the heads.

There's other designs which have a part that clips on to what looks like a regular bolt, but they're a little trickier to install.
