Alright so i use STP octane booster which says "Eliminates Knocks and Pings" and every kind of high quality gasoline additive available. But whenever i am on a slight to heavy incline going up it, my car knocks back like the transmission is having problems finding the right gear. im fearing my transmission is coming to an end in the near future. any suggestions on what to do to eliminate or keep it running for longer?

change your spark plugs

and don't use "octane boosters"

you should not need higher octane fuel

are you sure its the spark plugs?

no but they're only $12ish

from the vague description it sounds like you could be misfiring

the RPMs lower slightly. my foot remains at the same position on the gas pedal and even when i press slightly harder on the pedal, it takes a minite for it to stop knocking and the rpms go up and it stops. its a harsh jerking feeling. on an average incline, it will knock 5-8 times

like c2 said
before you waste money on anything,
stop using octane booster
it's not helping anything

it's probably not causing the knocking

my guess is you have 2 separate problems if one of them is your transmission
transmissions don't cause rod knock

most likely the misfiring is not causing your transmission to be unable to find the right gears because your RPMs aren't steady

its been there for about 6 months, but in the last 2 weeks its increased heavily.

One thing that I've noticed about my ecotec with auto tranny, is that the torque converter does not ever lock down completely, and I'm sure its designed that way because of the ecotec being a low tolerance engine.

So for that reason, unfortunately I suspect that its the tranny, as the engine in this car should not be causing jerking, only gentle acceleration/deceleration.
