Guys, I dropped my car off at the GM dealership yesterday for the Hazard Light Switch Recall. Well, I had to pick it after hours due to work. When I cranked it both teh tach and speedometer needle flip all the way to the max and back to normal. No lights or alarms sounded and the car started like normal. I turned it off and started it again and nothing happened.
The only thing that I've changed lately is I put in 2 12in subs with only a 760watt amp.
Has anyone ever had this issue b4?

try having that happen while driving down the road.. lol.
dont know what causes it, your battery may have been disconnected while it was at the shop- the needles max out and go back to normal, "resetting' themselves. its all good-

The GA does it.... It may be a function in the BCM?

I saw that when my battery was toast, of course I didn't know that at the time. My battery even had the green charge window and showed it as being charged when in reality it was charging but not holding a charge. Just a guess!
Being you had work recently though and it apparently wasn't doing it before it is resonable to assume that it is a product of the dealerships work. I would get them to fix it!

idk, but i find it cool as hell, only on a car that is meant to do it, not only the tach and speedo sweep, they all do.

GM cars do this when the alternator is dying ;)

Mine did it one time. I think it happens when the voltage gets below a certain value at start up.

Does the voltage lessen in cooler temperatures??

And it kinda makes sense too. To get at the Hazard Switch, you have to remove the cluster to get your arm in there. Pull out the black bezel that holds your odometer button then unplug it. Undo 4 (?) screws holding the panel, tilt the panel towards you, pinch the clamps, pull it out. The needles maxing out is the panel recalibrating it self.

Well if it does it after the battery's unhooked and such, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if it does it a few times, yeah could be a problem.
My buddy's 93 Camaro did the same thing and the trip odometer also resets, then his alternator took a crap

my car had been doing it for years, every so often, maybe once or twice a month for 7 years maybe, not the alternator at least not on mine.
