agreed with you man

simple.
a rock and a phone.
use the rock to chip the windshield use the phone to call up the insurance company and pay the $100 to have someone do it for you.

WTF!?
wow.. anyway...... i'd say go the professional route. too many things could go wrong.... and you definitely want a good seal on it.

Yeah I have a story about that. Paid $280 to replace my windshield, 2 days later trying to make it past a truck big ol' honkin rock hits dead center and leaves a nice crack slightly bigger than a quarter.:banghead:

go to a pro, seriously, it takes them like 10 min and its worth it. u dont want to get an improper seal.

go get a quote from a pro. lots of places can replace them for about 200-300 bucks cause they jack it up for the insurance companies but not for the average person. it might benifit you to pay it outright instead of paying the insurance deductible, depending on how much the prices vary.

My comp deductible is $500.
Oh, and to change it, you need the tools to remove it, Primer for the mounting area and window urethane (3M windo-weld, probably 2 tubes)
