Hey everyone. Well, hurricane dolly brought in some water here (no flooding though) and I had to use the alero. When I got on,the front of the carpet was all wet. Most of the wetness seemed to be under my floor mats. This used to happen on the passenger side, but I think that that was the AC cus it would only happen when my car was on for a long time. It had never happened on the drivers side til today. Anyone have any experience with this? I am guessing the leak is in the firewall or somthing.

I dont think the alero is built to withstand hurricane force winds with rain and debris

Maybe midgear is right, alhough there was no flooding where the car was at, which is what I find weird. Hopefully midgear is right though, and I have nothing to worry about.
01silveralero, If it were the heater core, wouldn't I be smelling antifreeze or something? Just wondering, because I dont really know.

check the weather striping in the doors. maybe yours is warped or something allowing water in.

Subject: Heater Blower Inoperative or Water on Passenger Floor (Install Sealing Strip)
Models: 1999-2001 Oldsmobile Alero
1999-2001 Pontiac Grand Am
Condition
Some customers may comment that water drips on the front passenger floor or that the heater blower is inoperative in cold weather.
Cause
This condition may be caused by water entering the fresh air inlet to the HVAC case due to poor sealing of the air inlet screen to the fresh air inlet opening.
Correction
1. Open the hood and remove the windshield wiper arms.
2. Remove the air inlet screen panel and replace the foam seal. Refer to illustration above.
3. Inspect the cowl drain holes located at each end of the cowl. They should be open and free of debris.
4. Reinstall the air inlet screen.
5. Make sure the lip on the lower windshield lace sits on top of the air inlet screen panel when installing the air inlet screen.
6. Reinstall the windshield wiper arms.

heres a simple idea.. take your car to an automatic car wash and watch everywhere for leaks-

its possible that the strong winds separated the door from the weatherstripping a little and some water got in. was the wind blowing across your car (side to side) or down it? (front to back)

There is a foam piece under the cowl (which is under the windshield wipers) that doesn't get sealed correctly at the factory.
The part is $5 at the dealership

All right! Thanks for the how to's. Had I realized this was so cheap and simple, I would have done it a long time ago. I checked the weatherstripping, and everything seemed fine. Ill post if this fixed the problem or not. Thanks everyone. Oh and lonnie, sorry for the misleading title. :p

Finally got it fixed today. Turns out that my ac's drainage system was clogged. Water would still come out through the drainage, just not all of it. The water that would not go outside, would get into the carpet.
