the sensor is up in the very front of the dashboard, next to the defrost vents.... and there is a relay you can get to get rid of it.

..but i don't see why you'd want to...

In my car, I removed relay number 22 under the hood, and that did it. Im really glad I removed it because now my headlights arent on during the day while I drive, but when I need them at night, they turn on by themselves. I didnt get any check engine with it removed either.

fixed your bad grammar.

That's not the best thing to do... Headlights are there for a reason. ;) Fog lights are just good for the name.... FOG and give a little extra light for night time. You can get pulled over and even a ticket for leaving your headlights off at night.

there's also a switch on the parking brake lever. If you don't release the parking brake all of the way the automatic headlight control will not turn on. Probably not the best method to go with though.

definitely not the best way.... you can ruin your brakes that way.

is that the only thing that relay affects if you remove it?

Sorry but that's a terrible idea, you just never know how good people can see your fog lights since they are so low to the ground and don't give out as much light.

I plan on doing the same but not to run at night. More for the twilight hour (or whatever time it is right between day and night).

Something you can try, but it depends how comfortable you are with wiring. If you've ever changed your hi and low beams, you know the connector wires for the lows are white/orange, green/yellow for the highs. I hardwired the fog lights to the lows which made them come with the lows. I seriously recommend having spare lights to work with. Over the past 8 years, i've hacked and sliced up two sets of headlamps and four sets of tails. I know that didn't give ya a concrete solution for the lights. Guess what i'm trying to say is that ya just have to be creative.

kniedelm9490: Strangely enough that was all the relay affected. I thought that I was manually going to have to turn on my lights from then on, but the automatic lights still worked.

hmmm so you can take something off to shut the lights off during the day and yet they still come on at night by them selves ?
