Alright, i will be bringing in my car to get the speed sensor fixed, and a new ignition switch. while im getting that done i wanted to tell my mechanic to drain the tranny fluid and replace it......does it really matter if i get it flushed? or will just getting it drained and replaced be good? i have 63,000 miles and never had the fluid drained.
They won't just drain and fill it unless they don't have a machine. Flush is better with a tranny filter change too.

Alright, thanks guys. Ive been wanting to change the fluid for a while but have been putting it off because i had to save for headers. lol. within the next 2 weeks i should have the headers on the car, and i will get a sound clip posted up after that. i cant wait!!!

I think you should get a second quote
and how much are they charging for your transmission flush?

im not getting the tranny flush yet. i decided to wait. the thing is, i cant find many places that will put headers on. and this looks like a good place to get it done. they do all kinds of performance shit for cars...idk, i just dont have the time to find other places..... gotta get this donnneeee

aren't headers like 900 to begin with? eff that! 1600 for one mod (that doesn't include a turbo) jeeze. bend over and take it billy.

You must have a lot of money you need to get rid of.
How much time would it take just to get a 2nd quote?
Wouldn't the extra hour or two to find and go to a different shop be worth it to save a couple hundred dollars?
And is it really necessary that you go to a performance shop? Any regular mechanic should be able to install headers, and they probably won't charge an arm and a leg.

you need to find some one who works out of there garage...

serioulsy, header isntall should be 150$ at the most
hell you can do it all you have to do is remove alternator, coil packs, and your intake......and some how chop the old exhaust off.......not entirely difficult just time consuming

I GOT THE HEADERS PUT ON!!!! i noticed that my exhaust is A LOT quieter on the highway, in the city it has a nice deep tone.... I love it! Now i wanna drive all over the place:rolleyes2: and they sure do make the engine bay look a lot nicer:coolio:

yes, the car feels NIIIICE. but now i have one problem. I got in my car 2 hours ago, turn the A/C on and then the car started idling weird. I started to drive it, and it didnt feel right. Then i tried to use my turn signal, and it didnt work. So i parked it and reved the engine a little and then all of a sudden the blinkers started to work (keep in mind this was with the A/C on), but the car still wasnt idling right. THEN i turned the A/C off and it was fine. Im thinking its a bad battery...... i gotta check the voltage when the car is running, can someone tell me what the voltage is supposed to be? I always forget that one.....lol. I will let you guys know how it drives on the way home WITHOUT the a/c on. But im pretty much 100% sure its a bad battery.
billytheman1188

Volt. when car isnt started- 12.56V
Volt. with car started- 13.99V
Volt. when car is started and AC is on- 13.96
those numbers dont look bad...... do you think the guy who worked on my headers messed something up? It just idles weird.....idk what it is.

those numbers are fine

hmm....so any ideas of what it could be? maybe the alternator? idk, i guess i will bring it by the shop tomorrow and have them take a look at it. I wish i could explain whats going on better....

from the numbers you posted it is fine, the only thing that may be causing your car to not run "properly" is that your not used to it with the headers and it needs a tune after all that, but from the voltages you posted thats how its supposed to be.
[ion] C2
06-10-2008, 12:12 PM
^Lacking a tune won't cause your turn signals not to work. He said when the engine is revved it worked. Alternator's on its last leg. The battery's only used to start the car and run the accessories when the car is off, otherwise it's all alternator.
You said it ran fine with the A/C off, which means when the clutch on the A/C is disengaged and it's not dragging on the engine it runs fine. Your A/C compressor may have an issue, either beginning to seize or just something breaking with it causing too much drag on the engine. Or the fact that the A/C causes some drag on the system then the alternator is not putting out what it should.
My voltage is around 15 running.

Voltage on alternator w/o AC--- 14.56
Voltage on alternator w/ AC---14.66

15 is too high and your overcharging your battery causing damage to it tbh.

well this is annoying, i have no idea what the problem is..... im going to stop by the shop that put them in a little later.. I REALLY HOPE THEY CAN FIND WHATS WRONG WITH IT....because i have a big drive to michigan and im going to be pissed if the problem isnt solved.

its like 14.5, whatever. i have a good battery, it performs amazingly and still going since i got it 3.5yrs ago
and yeah that doesn't make any sense.
oh. wait.
you said your turn signals were the only thing acting up, durrrrr, it's just the hazard switch being a bitch. get a video of your idle and i'll let you know if its anything to be worried about.
otherwise it sounds like your car's fine, the fact that you just put headers on will mean it should run slightly rougher and cool-er.

last night i drove it down the street with the ac on and it just feels weird. it drives ok with the ac off.... when i start the car it kind of feels different at first, then it calms down a little.

yea, but would the hazard switch make the car run weird? like i said before, when the ac is on it runs different. Im going to make a trip to the bank right now, i will drive it again with the A/C on and see what it does
[ion] C2
06-10-2008, 12:42 PM
no, headers make the car run different. you modified it, it's going to run different. a/c cuts your power output, it's going to change the way it feels and you'll be slower. clearly.
it's fine, lol.
mine idles weird when it starts up too, you let it warm up and go. takes a sec for it to read from the o2 sensor and go into closed loop

The car should feel different. You just replaced some restrictive headers with some that flow a lot better.

mine will run between 13.8 and 14.8.... and its certainly not hurting my car. :rolleyes2:
billy, does your a/c work? (is it cold air?) cuz it seems w/ your a/c on your cars voltage shouldn't be about the same. a/c compressors usually put quite a load on the power/engine... at least mine always did when it worked...

if your charging your battery at 15 or higher your damaging your battery, end of story, theres nothing to argue about

cherry.....the a/c does work, nice cool air :-) But when i was sitting at a light with the a/c on it just feels different. I can hear a little rattle under the car when im stopped.....sounds like the high flow cat is rattling.
