top end supercharger?

[ion] C2
04-29-2008, 11:07 PM
It's the MP62 supercharger from the LSJ (Cobalt/Ion engine). I'm making a manifold to support the LD9. :)

and you gunna send me your old one cheap RIGHT?

Ya once I get this one working. I got a lot going on. Gotta figure out how to have my school's metal fabrication shop make this manifold so it works, gotta rebuild my LD9 first, then buy a meth injection kit, full exhaust, and drag radials, hit the track get some times before ASS '08, which will also cost money.

I was playing but when you let the old one go let me know.

Nice!

I think you'll be farther ahead by building in an intercooler, though, if space permits.....or at least allow some room to add one in later....

Yup, I plan on making an FMIC style one. They did it on the Alero OSV with this supercharger. GM also did it on a concept Cavalier. Otherwise, I'll do the LSJ style in-manifold intercooler with a liquid to air heat exchanger. There's a lot of demand for this manifold over on j-body, a LOT want to be able to use the MP62.

Of course it'll fit. They do it in the Ecotecs, it's not that much bigger. Someone is shipping out a hacked off MP45 manifold to me Friday. AKA the same manifold the MP45 supercharger uses, just with the supercharger area cut off, so all I need to do is get the metalshop to weld up a box with the correctly spaced threaded holes to strap this thing onto, spaced to line up the pulley with the belt. And put a barb fitting on each side, one for the FPR/boost gauge, and one for the MAP sensor or whatnot.

This one will be easy to make, it's the mass-produced one (using just the 2.4L flange that's readily available) that's going to take some customization, since I'd have to have the shop design the runners from scratch and make a whole new box, with everything sized right.

Here's a shot of one of the j-body guys' progress, who later dropped off the face of the earth, like the other four who were supposed to make it since 2005.

So whar are the advantages of the mp62 over the mp45

[ion] C2
04-30-2008, 09:56 AM
MP62
1.0 L of air per rev

MP45
0.75 L of air per rev

It's bigger, more efficient, whines more. Can push a lot more PSI than the MP45.

Yep same reason I dropped the 62 for the whipple good luck with your project looks nice, the 62 should be real good on your 4 banger....

pardon the double post but now that i have thought about it more, if you are going to all the hard work and fabrication why not make the bigger step to a prositive displacement blower like the smaller 1200AX whipple charger or eatons new TVS blowers?

They are even better and more effecient, even the more hardcore cobalt guys are dropping the 62 and trying to fab for the 1200AX whipple or a TVS blower

just wondering.......

i have a free MP62, free manifold, free 2.4L intake flange (for the tubular complete manifold design) and there's lots of demand for these to make a bunch of these and profit.

whipple would be nice, love the sound of them, buy me one and i'll do it

[ion] C2

me too. i have to bring in a bunch of money soon ($350 ish to swap the bottom end professionally then my friends and i will do the rest, or $700-800 to have everything swapped and installed)

so i can have this engine rebuilt and hit the track before ASS, it's going to cut it close

in order to achieve the ultimate ride you must be willing to pay the ultimate price....

may i point out sperm or plasma doantion is a wonderful source of quick cash.

[ion] C2
05-01-2008, 03:22 PM
haha, i hate needles. i've never heard of the first existing anywhere around here, lol.

I may have a client for web design today though... good 3-5 hundred there.

i used plasma donations to pay my gambling debts during first semester...

that sounds much worse than it is.. i think

[ion] C2
05-01-2008, 03:49 PM
how much did you make?

Bad99Olds

alerored04

i make $240 a month from plasma. Pays for my fiances engagement ring.

Bad99Olds
05-01-2008, 04:09 PM
see some people spend their plasma money on noble things. i had to use to to cover gambling debts and sports wagers. lol. u would think i would have learned along the way. but really, who would have thought the giants would cover, and that 3 aces could be beaten with an outside straight draw on the board???? lol

05-01-2008, 07:15 PM
i donated plasma during college to help with living expense about 200 a month, i would still do but i moved outside of town and the clinic is a long ways away now........

and ion, yeah a free supercharger would be nice but i'm not complaining i sold my old supercharger and the intercooler setup for $4400 and my new whipple only cost me $1000.......

you guys are paid for giving blood? Or do I just get that totally wrong?

(for me, plasma is something you find in blood)

cherrington17
05-01-2008, 10:40 PM
yes, that is what they are talking about. i just recently found out its possible ($50 per donation locally) but they aren't accepting my type right now. :mad2: i wanted that money to buy some stuff!

I wish it was legal to sell sperm here. I could make money for something in my Daily Routine!

J/k.

Vinalero
05-02-2008, 03:15 AM
here you can give blood, but they dont pay you for it, or maybe you can have a cookie WOOHOO!!!

maybe if they paid for it, more ppl would give some

alerored04
05-02-2008, 11:04 AM
It's not the same as giving blood. They separate out the plasma and put the red blood cells back. They use the plasma to make certain medicines for immune diseases. I think thats what they use it for.

Vinalero
05-02-2008, 01:12 PM
Ya, my girlfriend works for an hospital in the labs and she does those kind of jobs. Still we dont get pay for this over here, or else I would have been giving some!

The blood that they take out isn't really that much so your body would make it back in less than a day.

Ion, are you going to include a w2a or front mount intercooler into this new setup?

[ion] C2
05-22-2008, 04:13 PM
FMIC all the way. Have the initial designs set up, it's going to kick ass. Then I'll use a CO2 sprayer on the intercooler, along with meth and a good tune.

Busy at the moment with something else, something big (non car related).

kwhauck
05-22-2008, 04:38 PM
i'm glad to hear you are going with some kind of intercooler you will see much better results that way.....and boost the supercharger's efficiency
