i bought one of those adapters for a deck so that the radio would work. now i can seem to get any stations whatsoever. could it be possible the adapter went bad or is it time for a new antenna. besides where is the one that comes on the car??

The antenna on the Alero is in the rear windshield. If you had stations before, and now you don't, I highly doubt you have a problem with the actual antenna. More likely than not I would guess a problem with the adapter.

The antenna is powered. You need to run the antenna remote wire to the wire on the harness manually. It s a light green wire I believe.

ryan i did this like you told me too an now im having issues with the adapter for the radio prong, (the large black wire that doesn't go to the harness).
the piece came from amazon with two things, and i dont even know how to describe it, i got sick of the signal going in and out and have been toying with it for 3 days inspare time, no luck. im gonna run to the car and post a picture of one of the adapter wires, i just took it out because it only seemed to make things worse

thats the poo poo adapter i took out, it doesn't make any sense to me becasue it doesn't make an actual tight connection with the oem prong

The issue here is the GM antenna is smaller is size than the standard antenna plug.
If the factory plug doesnt fit tight into the end of that one you have, you got the wrong one.

so that piece that i took out is needed to work properly, see it came with two pieces, the other fits nicely with the oem one and goes directly into the back of the unit, but is allowing the signal to come in and out
do you have any suggestions to make that piece work or do i need to go hunting
am i making sense?
btw i appreciate all your help

Ahh I'm so pissed with that thin green wire I'm about to cut it strip it back, tie a knot with the ant rem wire and salter over it. Any bad side to this?

Calm down guys.
Get a wire tap. The red colored one should work. You slide the tap over the whole wire. Then you slide what you need to connect to it into the scond hole- it doesnt go thru the piece like the other. Clamp down. Done.
However if your replacement deck has a power antenna wire AND a amplifier turn on wire, use the power antenna wire.
I had to use the green wire as my old radio which replaced the stock only had one remote turn on.
