View Full Version : CD Text on '01-'04 Stock Headunit?

For the first few years of owning my Alero, the stereo headunit would display the name of the currently playing CD track. It worked for essentially all retail CDs and most burned ones as well.
For the last ~2 years or so, the feature hasn't been working. All it says is "Track 1" etc.
Does anyone know how to re-enable the CD text or what the issue could be? as I think that it's a cool feature.

I didn't know the stock one could do that. O_O My aftermarket one only does that if you burn it as .mp3 files.
Time for a new headunit. Get a nice one.

Mine wouldn't do that, fun fact though my Impala Radio used to display the artist and song from the radio but wouldn't on CD's.

Yeah, that's RDS (Radio Data System), which is cool. The '01-'04 Alero headunits have it and mine still works fine.

did you somehow manage to turn that off? i can't imagine that feature alone would stop working, and the rest of the radio works fine....

I don't know, I might have done some combination of button presses that turned it off, but unlikely. I checked the manual and there's nothing about it.
I agree that it's odd that it spontaneously stopped working. ;)
