And why is does it have oil in it? There's another one between the 3-4 spark plugs.

not sure what the purpose of the hole is,,, could be so the oil stays there and doesnt go inside where the spark plugs go. But your camshaft housings are leaking oil.

mmm, figured, it's always been oily inside there. would my IDI cover bolts not being torqued down influence this? (my IDI cover has CF on it and i can't tighten down the bolts since i didn't put a washer behind the CF, so it bends it down and wrecks the CF.

when i was installing the supercharger i untorqued one cam bolt thinking i had to remove it, i'm sure it's not torqued to spec.

checked the oil level, it's pretty good, never had any issues with losing oil. who knows how long its been there. or if its actually oil i didn't relaly smell it. i spilled a lot of fuel and coolant when i installed the s/c lol

i'm getting a new engine anyway with 30k miles to rebuild and swap in anyway, if this is seriously problematic and not just leftover crap

well since your getting a new engine then you can prevent this issue from happing.

I just recently fixed my head,,,,cause see ion the threads on the head get messed up after a while of taking off the bolts and on and off.

I used helie coils to get the bolts to torque right cause before they just kept spinning. But smart idea using another engine to build. I should have done that so I can still be riding my alero;)

the IDI cover bolts help to seal the camshaft housings don't they? the location of the IDI cover bolts suggest this. if so, mine are really loose, and could be one reason this is occuring (suggesting this is not a previous and unimportant issue, i never really noticed it much until i was repainting the cover today)

Nope. All they do is hold on the IDI cover. I'm sure you've seen over on J-body.org some of the turbo 2.4's that swapped to MSD coils and wires, and some of them don't even have the IDI cover on them anymore. I would guess it's probably a loose cam cover bolt, and that's if you decide it's actually coming from the cam tower.

oh, yeah. i just didn't know if they still had the bolt in, though the cover was nonexistant.

meh. i'll probably clean up/out all the oil and whatnot and see if it comes back, and if so, how quickly. and tighten up the cam cover bolts. as long as this engine lasts me til i get the new one in, who cares.

No IDI cover here.
