Sounds like a bad sending unit. Mine went bad a few years back. Replaced it and it's good as new.
Obviously, it goes without saying, check the fuses first...

theres no way that would cause the car to run bad correct?

^^ No. the float in the tank goes, but it should move around a little bit. Check fuses first

Car fax should show that.
Why do you think it was flooded?

Obviously it sucks that things have failed and needed replacing, but I'm not sure what about those things leads you to believe it was a flood vehicle. Did it come from a flood-prone state, or a place with recent hurricanes? (LA, MS, FL, etc.)

Carfax would tell you how many owners and what state it came from.
If it was a flooded car, the interior would have to be replaced too.
What are the RPO codes on the spare tire cover? See if the interior is the correct color, it's a long shot, but worth a shot

There could be a few different problems with your gas gauge not working. The fuel sending unit sends the fuel level signal to the PCM, the PCM then interprets and normalizes it and then sends it over the class 2 data bus to the IPC (gauges).
Check the connection at C413. Under the car just to the front of the rear crossmember in the floor. There's 3 plugs in it, the one that goes to the floor. The connector (3) that has the wires for the fuel sender is the one on the right (passenger) side that goes vertically and has 7 wires in it (it's the biggest one). Don't forget to remove the assurance tab on it to disconnect it if it's still there. It's possible some corrosion may have gotten in there somehow.
You can also check resistance in that plug on the fuel pump side between pin B (blk/white wire) and pin D (purple wire). It should be somewhere between 40Ω and 250Ω.
Does your low fuel light come on?

Sorry this is an old post but I am having the similar problem, my gauge goes haywire, it has not been working correctly since 05, it flucuates, and when I fill up its good 3/4s good, but once it gets to half tank it could read full again, or 1/4 or E, and each time i turned it on it read differently, sometimes flucuating while car is running, Had to go off my trip odometer to figure out when i needed gas, but now it just sits, but I would like to get it accurately working again. I figured it could be the sender, but in order to get to it, (or whatever it is) they will have to go through trunk to gas tank, is this correct, cause if so my whole stereo will have to be takin out, and that could take a while. Any body had the same issure and it wasnt in the gas tank, I would like to try anything else before ripping the trunk out. I do not think it is fuses since the gauge sometimes works, but i also noticed around the same time my A/F gauge stopped working too, could this be a connection? I have checked and rewired the A/F but no go. any help please???
