just wondering if anyones got the 62mm high flow TB, and if its worth the money for what the gains are. thanx

I got mine for $100 off a member on www.j-body.org. One is for sale in their classifieds for $200 now.

Supposedly like 10+ HP gain. Haven't been to the track, but sound and throttle response is awesome. And obviously the more air that is let in is better. (Especially for me, more air to pressurize)

quicker throttle response sounds good to me. thanks for the info. now i just need some money for all this shit.

is there any cars that had factory 62mm tb ? that can be mod to install on an alero ?

it's hard to find any that will have all the sensors we have, have to splice some wires to the new sensors, and find one that lines and bolts up to the intake manifold

what throttle body do you have ? damn it you have a 4 cyl

where can I get a TB for a 3.4 bord out stock one ?

they work on both engines lol

(AFAIK)

this is my thought:

get a stock throttle body and a 63mm "flapper"/plate and linkage (off a 3500 TB) and bore the stock TB to fit the plate. I have access to a mech shop so all work would be done on a lathe or mill. I see this being way cheaper then $275 + for a new TB

what ya all think ?

go for it

I was also thinking about getting the 62mm high flow, only place I saw it was on pfyc for like 369 or something.

So are you guys saying that you could get up to 10hp added just from adding this part? Nothing else?

yeah... that seems a little odd that if you just add a HUGE tb, and nothing else, your looking as massive gain, and no ill consequences...??

something like that, it's a supporting mod though, other things are greatly aided by having this, such as me with the supercharger, the wider opening allows much more air to flow in

more air each rev, thus more fuel, more power.

obviously you have some other mods to take into account...

so, if this was done on a stock alero... ? (as many people who read this may have)

by the sounds of it, you have 2 possible outcomes.. either making your engine run much leaner due to more air, or your car will automatically adjust the amount of fuel delivered and you'll use more gas, to keep the same a/f ratio.... to which you'll decrease mpg.... (also increase hp)

but i'm no specialist on this... its just my understanding of things. am i wrong?

Yeah if that is 10hp from just this part alone I would buy one today, I wonder if adding an exhaust and headers would compliment each other well in conjunction with the throttle body....not really an engine guy here...jack of all trades master of none!

yes a full exhaust would be great with the throttle body

the computer will add fuel to compensate for the throttle body under load as it should

otherwise it will increase MPG, less effort needed to suck in sufficient air, less vacuum (as far as I know) and the combustion is more efficient

I plan to add some Pacesetter headers to my Magnaflow exhaust system if I decide to buy the TB.

ya, if i were to get it, i also plan on header and wider exhaust. already got an intake with a cold air box to bring in cold, air. just need a more efficient way to get it into the engine.

i need an exhaust, lol. still running all stock exhaust parts

all ive got so far is a borla muffler which has helped a suprising amount.

what about a 65mm TB, would you have to do any kind of major engine work to get one on?

for all of these flow mods tuning would be a good idea

but no you don't NEED to do anything for the TB/intake/exhaust
