for the 4-cylinders, you can get cheap ones.
But they dont have a big market for the 3.4, so the headers are expensive. but i dont care, they will be worth it.:coolio:

put em on yourself!!

03-20-2008, 03:55 PM
lol, i dont have any time....with school and everything. I have a lot of late classes..... headers would be easy to put on a 4 cylinder, but its too much work for me to do myself, the 6 cylinder is always harder to put stuff on. And i dont trust the kids at my school to put them on....

find some free time and learn, otherwise you'll always be paying lots of money just on labor. Just cut the exhaust pipe with a hack-saw and then start unbolting.

^That suggestion has already been addressed in this thread. Some people would rather pay to have things done right, and free them from any hassle. Like how I'd rather have someone rebuild my engine than me do it.

I don't think people on here know Billy so well?! I wouldn't trust him to change my oil in my car! Sorry had to say it. Let the thread resume!

nice headers, but from what i see in the pics your primary 02 sensor is only reading the front exhaust bank. unless there is an 02 bung in the collector or before the cat? my tog headers have the primary o2 bung at the collector to read both exhaust banks. if that is a hi-flow cat you will need an o2 sim for the secondary o2 sensor or disable it in the programming.
you could have gone to a place and had a custom set made and installed for around $950

Even if you do take it to a shop, ask to watch, whenever I have anything done to my car I learn how to do it myself, the mojority of Mechanics are pretty nice guys and I think they will tell you what they are doing as they do it. I would never want to have to pay for the same thing twice (in labor at least)

How big is the piping on the Pacesetter exhaust?
2.5 in.
and about the O2 sensors, there are 2 places for them..... :coolio: im going to ask my teachers at school if they know of any good places to get them put on. Im VERY picky about who i let work on my car. me and my step dad always work on my car, but for projects like this i would just prefer to take it to a place and get them put in.

WOW, im pissed right now. So the nuts they welded on are shaped like ovals, so the bolts only screw in half way, so i cant get a tight fit... Can i bring it to a welding place around here...and have them take them off and put new ones on? Or will they not come off after they are welded...?
here are pics.....

i work with alot of hardware all day everyday (tractor dealership every nut and bolt has a part number) but anyways we have nuts here that look like that they are called lock nuts
billytheman1188
03-28-2008, 03:56 PM
ok, but how does the bolt go into it if the nut is oval shaped on the end..... it screws in a little bit, but then it wont screw in anymore....

you could try to run a tap thu it. oil the tap good and run it thu by hand slow 1/4 turn at a time the threads could have some plating in them too. but I agree they look like lock/locking nuts to me. the bolt should go thu with a wrench when installed. If the bolt and nut are both SS make sure you lube the bolt with never seaze or grease or the bolt will gawl up and prob break off. and run the bolts in slow the heat that running them in fast will help this gawlling happen.

they are lock nuts, they are designed that way to keep vibration and heat from loosening the bolts over time, the bolts only go in half way because the locking threads start half way into the nut. we use a similar type of locking nut for diesel trucks called stover nuts.

Yup, nice headers.
$900 is about the going rate if they're ceramic coated, $800 if just high temp painted, and $750 for unfinished (raw metal).
They should do very nicely with your 2.5" exhaust, and you should definitely feel the difference when it's able to breathe.
And yes, as the others said, those are lock-nuts, you just have to make sure they're threaded in straight, then crank the crap out of them. That way they don't come unbolted. I would however put some sort of high-temp grease under the bolt head/washer so they don't seize up from corrosion over time.

alright guys, thanks for the help. I got worried! Im not going to install these, because its a lot of work and this is my daily driver... so the person who puts them in is going to have to tighten them reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal good? cause they dont go in that easy:lol:
