My car started shaking when i started. I figured i needed a tune up since i never really got one (im at 112K). the shop says that my plugs, ignition coils, and the control module were bad. replacing it all wouldve cost close to $850!! i got it towed to cheaper place and i havent got an estimate yet. has anyone had the problem with the control module? and is it really that big of a deal to fix?

yeah, plugs are supposed to be done at 100K so they're probabily ready to be changed. do them first and see how it runs.
if that doesn't work, plug wires and coil packs would be next.
after that, you could also clean your throttle body and make sure your air filter is nice and clean. same for fuel filter.

That's probably not a terrible price if it includes the parts and everything.

That is still a terrible price. Spark plugs are $2.00 a piece not $200.

If It were my car I'd change the plugs and wires myself and then reevualuate. The "100,000 mile tune up" is marketing. The double platinum plus only last abotu 74,000 miles, and even then the gap will be so big that you will wonder how the car ran! Sreiously, I'd clean and regap at 30,000 miles and replace at 60,000 miles.

I agree with the others that someone is trying to rip you off. Changing the plugs, wires, & coils are easy. Either or all of those could have showed up as a problem in whatever module was mentioned to you. Most of us will assume that is the Power Control Module. Is that what they said?

Sorry to bring up older post BUT
Our control module is what our coil packs sit on. That is the ignition control module not power control module

Ign mod 4 or 6 bolts
coil packs 2 bolts each
spark plug, it is a bolt, sorta of.
Undo the battery and fix it yourself.
I would imagine an experienced mech could do the work in a little more than an hour. The rear plugs could actually be done with the mod and coils off for more room ;)
