I live on a dirt road out in BFN and when it rains I drive through about a foot of water sometimes so cold air intake isn't an option so for a warm air intake what yawl think?
I'll take some pic once I get it put on

That intake looks like bullshit. first it doesnt even replace the whole pipe, and then they say:

"* Polished piping for better direct airflow into the throttle body." its just a piece of pipe to get the filter a little more far. the way they type it make it sound like the fact its polished will make it get better airflow LOL.

and also "OLDSMOBILE ALERO 2.4L, 3.1L 3.4L (1997-2005)"

Does it really fit the 2.4?

Mr reed, the intake youre looking at (i mean the one u posted) looks good and it comes with a K&N filter too. I was thinking on getting the same one as well this week.

Just a little FYI, I just had to remove my WAI and go back to stock because it took in water and killer the mass airflow sensor. My mechanic found out that the water came in from the rain. it came in from around the drivers side headlight and then made it back to the filter, so He recomended building some sort of box around it so this doesnt happen again.

you should make it a cold air box so it takes in air from the fender like a cai

then you'd have the best of both worlds, cold air like a cai and an easily accessable and rainless filter like a wai

The stock setup takes cold air from behind the headlight does it not?

reed, i got a very similar one, and it paid for itself in about 2-3 months of saved gas.

but i'd look for one of the ones closer to $20. its the same exact thing....

and i really get tired of people posting why they want a WAI, and someone IMMEDIATELY posting "dont' worry about water, get a wai" he IS worrying, stop posting that.

how is that even possible? does your hood not have the rubber strip on the underside?

Its the same on all motors I belive. I was just saying that the stock system is basicaly a cold air box, lots of restriction but still a cold air box.

Yes the stock intake opening ends up right behind the headlight. and even with that rubber strip it makes it in, when I pulled my headlight out to get the stock intake in you could see the water that had come in around it frozen to the top of the headlight in streaks, it was 20 degrees out the day I did it outside, but hey either that or not drive the alero all winter. I'm just gonna make a box to go around the WAI for the spring, and then do a CAI for when I race, maybe, I dont know if I feel like doing too much more work on the car.
