with my 2000 2.4L alero the temp gauge is wavering quite a bit and very quickly. doesnt matter on the temp outside. it just moves up and down randomly. it always used to sit just at or 1mm below the half line. now it just wavers. in the blink of an eye i went up from 3/4 to half. just wondering what it could be that is causing this? maybe coolant sensor?

Note: the thermostat was changed for this problem 8 months ago but changing it never fixed this problem. and the coolant reservor is full to the cold line, rad fans work fine. no check engine light on either

thanks

try and aftermarket gauge and see if the aftermarket gauge is doing the same thing.

Did they make an aftermarket gauge?

or are you talking about a new thermostat for the coolant system?

This is most likely caused by a bad connection at the sender, somewhere between the sender & guage, or even in the gauge itself.
