This is what I'm looking at getting for my alero when I get my tax returns.

Front door:
two Infinity Reference 6412cfp 4"x6" 2-way speakers

Rear deck:
two Infinity Kappa 692.7i speakers

Others:
2 10" Kenwood KFC-W2511 4-ohm Subs powerred by the Kenwood KAC-7203 Amp.

As far as a head unit, I'm still looking for one. Not sure what one I want to get... So far I'm spending about $550

This sound like a good setup?

Do you have the monsoon amp in your car by chance?

Oh, and I have the 693.7i waiting for mine, as well as the 60.7cs for the front and a Basslink II with the 4sc amp.

u dont need the rear..
also id say go for a re wire and run a 2ch to the front and then a 2 or mono for the subs

Ok,

As above. Forget the rears. They will overpower your fronts- the fronts need to be upgraded more. They are more important that the rears, so if you must have rears just get a simple cheaper 2 way reference series. Put the money up front, you wont be sorry!

Dont count on a factory amp, they are pathetic JOKES.

http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/showthread.php?t=288143

Thats a BOSE amp, imagine what an "inferior" monsoon amp looks like, lmao.

Lastly Im not a fan of Kenwood subs or amps. You could do better for the money here:

http://www.caraudiocentral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8687

You can get an amp and single 12" sub that would slaughter 4 of them Kenwoods with double the power ;) Oh, and it will sound better doing it too- an added bonus :)

Thanks man, I'll definitely look into those. And thanks for the advice for the rear deck. that will save me about $200. there is an audio shop here in town that sells some pretty nice amps and subs. I might see what they have.

What do you think about JBL subs?

I'm in the process of replacing my rear deck speakers.

I just pulled out the factory speakers yesterday and this weekend will pick up some new 6x9's. I don't have the monsoon but I am still thinking about running some new fresh wires to the rear if its not to tough to snake the wire under the carpet to the center counsel(if this is the best way?).

No idea on rear speakers but I know I don't want to go much over $100 as this would allow me to upgrade the HU if I so desire.

This is a budget install as I already have have an after market POS Sony deck.

Thanks!

I read a few hundred threads yesterday as I awaited for my registration to go through. I couldn't figure out how to get the rear deck off without taking off the rear c-pillars and thats when I found this site.

ryans right you will not be sorry.

i un hooked my rears when i put my sub in and it sounds better. front stage is where you want your money to go. o would take the rear speaker money and use it to get 5.25 or 6.5 in the front doors.

Well, I know I am still going to put the rears in mine just for the sake of those who ride in the back occasionally. however I don't necessarily have to hook up the highs on the 693.7i (the 692.5i is the same) all the time. They have separate connections just like the monsoon does. It's also adjustable within a certain range. I definitely know what you're talking about with running no highs in the rear, I have it like that on my Beretta and I like it that way.

If you have a Pioneer head unit, you can automatically cut the highs from the rear by turning on the "FIE" option.

okay, I have a quick question

my dad got me front and rear pioneer speakers for christmas
but he also paid for installation
I told him to get his money back

Installation seems like a rip off
how hard is it to do yourself?

Cliff you on Bstuff? :)

Not having rear speakers ports the tunk to the cabin, helping you out in that fashion. Otherwise the sub pressurizes the 6x9s into distortion anyhow- rendering them a train wreck when talking SQ.

Put the money into your front stage. Even without rear speakers, with a good front stage there is PLENTY of sound that will fill the entire car. To be brutally honest Im rolling stock right now with slightly moded sail panels. And its loud enough my kid will yell at me to turn it down.

The second best improvement ANYONE can do is to get some Second Skin "speaker tweakers". THis is by far and large the absolute best $25 anyone who appreciate music in their car could EVER spend.

Fresh wires is the only way. Never ever ever ever EVER hack off factory connectors. Just run new wire and be done with it. Its very easy to do in the Alero.

Never heard of Speaker Tweakers, got a link to where one might get some?

I'm not going to put THAT much effort into the audio system as I will be either trading the car in later or selling it myself, so as far as running new wires and whatnot is not going to happen. lol I am just going to put better speakers in there to give the car better sound quality. the subs I want to make sure I get my money's worth as they will stay with me when I get a new car/truck.

Running new wire to the rear is so very simple. Hell your already there install a power wire!

If you chop off the factory connectors plan on the speakers going with the car. Trying to sell a used car without a functioning radio is very very hard ;)

pimpalero2003
12-29-2007, 02:06 PM
true but it can be done i sold brand new cars with no radios haha damn hyundai accents

Ryan from Ohio
12-30-2007, 08:54 PM
Ya thats understandable.

Someone is buying a Hyundai Accent for a reason- they have to have brand new and only have $8K to spend...lol

But if you take a used car and try to sell it to someone with no speakers, they give you a VERY dirty look.

Heck my one car I left $400 worth of interior speakers in it. I modded the rear panels for mid bass and had boxes built. Wasnt worth uninstalling and making it look like poop.

get the money for the install return the rears and buy a sub ;)

wow.... it's definitely not easy at all

Edit: okay, the fronts are pretty easy
rears... ehh... seem very difficult
guess that's why you said buy a sub though...

The fronts are worse as you need to run new wire to the door. Going thru that grommet is a pain IMO. Well unless you have a fish tape.

The rear is easy. You already have it apart to run the power wire. So you just toss the speaker wire in with it. Ditto when running new wire to the front speakers from the rear of the car for an amp. So very simple.

I do it the hard way though to make sure its perfect.

Power down one side, speakers up the other. RCAs down the center ;) Ive got 2 runs of Stinger Experts and had an optical run you couldnt even see.

wait hold on, I got my fronts in last night and I didn't have to run any wires. I just hooked em up to the old ones and they worked perfectly
the only issues I has were trying to get them to screw in.

The rear speakers are what I've had trouble getting to
how the hell do you even get to em?
does basically everything behind the rear seats have to come out?

Ryan from Ohio

Running new wires isnt hard.

Removing the rear speakers is a bit more involved.

I take it all out. I take the rear seat out and the rear panels. Then lift the rear deck card out.

If you are having troubles or just need it done contact Terry @ Sound Solutions in Florence KY. He will get you hooked up at a very reasonable rate. Tell him I sent ya, might get a better deal too.

I just used my original wires
for me the rear speakers ended up being pretty easy
I just hadta figure out what I was doing
I didn't have to take out the seats or any panels, I just popped out the covers unclipped the speakers and they came right out

So after ready all this it seems that I should just get rid of my 6x9's in the back because the subs that I have in there are distorting them anyway? That saves me some bucks. Hope that I can get the same level of sound though from just the fronts. I have two 200 watt amps that I'm not using now anyway so I guess I could use one on the drives side and one on the pass side.

Trust me, with some good 5.25 or 6.5's in the front, tweets int he sail with proper amping, you will in no way ever need the rears or miss them.

remove the rears to get better sound out of the sub with out putting the seat down. my 6.5 door pods are in the works.

Some one got the link to the thread about fitting 5.25 or 6.5 in the 4x6 hole in the front? I'd be willing to try this. When I use my DVD player I always fad it to the front anyway, and I kind of like the sound.

Its not bad. What I did was fairly simple, just used the wrong material :(

Take some 1/4" plywood. Cut the base. Then cut the baffle. Use dowel Rods cut as needed to create your angle. Hot glue it together. Use speaker grill cloth and fiberglass for the first layer followed by 2 layers of glass. Done.

I got my set here you can have if you want them. Not perfect but works. $10 shipped.

I used like 3-4 sheet metal screws to attach each one. No hacking of the door needed. Easy switch back to stock ;)
