I believe he said 3500 to buy the motor, NOT install it. Check your context.

Actually, he didn't say either one. So which is it? Is that just for the motor (what about trans)? Or is that just for the install? Or is that for everything?

no one is saying it can't be done. In fact it was already done on one of the OSV cars. Just something that everyone talks about doing, but never does.

I'd love to see it done! It would be badass!

Sounds like he just meant he'd do the installation and you supplied him with the motor... a northstar and tranny from a junked caddy would probably be another $2000 or so...

I stand corrected. It just all sounds too in-expensive. I would think a TT Northstar OR the installation and fabrication there of would be alot more than 35 hundred.

hey he said has 4 northstars at his shop so... i mean i dunno, i will go look talk to him saturday and i will let everyone know what goin on, this is what he exactly said is " i have 4 northstar at my shop right now and have turbos on hand, we could mount with a tranny, motor, computer, TT and custom mounting brackets for $3000 -$3500, he just has to talk to his racing manager about doing it.

That's a sweet-ass deal. Man, i'd be getting my hustle on. Take out a loan or hit your parents up.

just remember, the v8 that were swapped where on chevy S-10 frames. not sure if the tranny will fit and you probably have to re-do the whole exhaust and you probably need a bigger radiator which might not fit.

the rear drive small block was an s-10 frame, the northstar was on the normal alero body. though i'm sure it took a bit of reinforcing to make sure nothing would break...

I'm guessing this is install labor only
the northstar alone is worth almost that much

a twin turbo northstar can cost almost 35,000

Althogh I haven't ever put a northstar into annother car, I do have experience with engine swaps, I've put a VW VR6 engine into an old body VW Bus, and also put a Corvette C5R engine into a Camaro...the only problem I can think of would be extending the engine bay and finding suitable engine strut locations....It's true that you'd need a much bigger radiator, but if your willing to do without A/C...then it's a much more tangible idea...if anybody in the chicago area is willing to let me experiment, I (as in me and the rest of the mechanic crew at my grandfather shop) could try to figure out how this could happen...and I could get a Northstar TT with 25k miles for 6 grand...already found one :D ...so yeah, what ya guys think?

extending the engine bay?
are you serious?
the swap has been done on concepts
no extending needed.

as for the twin turbo northstar... yeah maybe junk yard parts. but even then.
show me it and maybe I'll belive you.

A stock northstar? That's a tight squeeze.
A twin turbo northstar with all the piping involved? That's a bunnying nightmare.

if you want space for upgrades, the you'll want to extend the bay an inch or two, atleast for a large intercooler. That would probably be the first mod I'd do if I put a Northstar in between my fenders.
