sweet red x's, you can't post attached items from their forum to ours.. you need to save and host them here or somewhere externally

huh? why in the hell would you want a timing belt? im not rolling in a jap car, here. timing belts driven by water pumps are REAL costly maintenance as well! 300-400 bucks repair.

lol you dumbass, you don't get it they show up as a RED X since we are not on quad4forums. the link the image references is from an attachment off quad4forums, so they DON'T SHOW UP, so NONE OF US CAN SEE THEM!

(Unless of course we get a Quad4Forums.com account, which I just did, so now I can see quad4forums attachments)

That's all I'm saying.. I don't give a shit who owns them.

Plenty of non-japanese cars have their share of timing belts too... Timing belts don't transmit vibration as much and free up some HP which is their advantages. However I did have my old Volvo toss the belt and it cost like $700 to repair the damage (in parts!). It had essentially their version of the Quad.

The reason for a modification such as this would be to lose the weight of the timing chain housing, reducing the mass of the engine assembly. The downside to this modification, snapped belts no bueno... of course that's why you spend out for a high quality belt. Also there's no cover or housing for this particular conversion which means, you have to keep an eye on it to make sure it's clean.

However, if you're going all out, need every last ounce of weight savings this is it, as well as losing some weighted mass being exerted on the crankshaft.

IDK if I trust belts. My Nova had a belt, not a pretty sight when it when.

Of course I'm talking about the bill, I knew jack about cars internally and I was in college, it was like a month's to 6 weeks pay to pay for it :(

No va...... lol...

What do you mean you don't know if you trust belts. 4G63's use them b-series motors use them lots of proven performing motors use them.

yeah, i had an eclipse with the 4g63, man doing that timing belt sucked...it didn't help that i had a turbo timer, and when i restarted it after the job was done (before we put the timing cover back on) the timer didn't want the engine to stop, and there fore destroyed i believe it was the knock sensor, and had to go hunting for a new one, and after all of that, i still had to take it to a garage...one day after we did the belt, it didn't want to start...apparently it bent most or all valves...guessing the belt skipped some teeth..don't know why but..thank god that car is gone

Never had such a problem like that with any 4g motor here at my boys shop. Then again he works on them all day long.

the auto trannies dont' hold very much power at all. They tend to kill themselves, even though you can have them built up.
