My gas tank is nutz, if i got a half tank of gas the needle is fine, and then after it gets under a quarter of a tank, the needle shoots up to show that I have a full tank of gas, also when its like that and I try to put gas into the car, it spits the gas back out at me, this is crazy any ideas what this could be?

Mine had a little attitude problem for a while - same thing. It sorted itself out though. I just kept an eye on the trip odo and didn't trust the gauge. But yeah, it's most likely the pump or sending unit that's attached.

the needle on my car was jumping around one day so i jerked the steering wheel back and forth a couple times to unstick the float in the gas tank which fixed the problem for me.

its the sending unit. if you get a gm one its a pump/sending unit all in one

mine was bad from the day i bought the car. i just learned to count miles until i moved down here, i changed the pump before i left. you cant buy just the sending unit. you have to replace the whole pump

um, mine occasionally will drop to empty even when its full. i have to shut off my car and turn it back on then its all fine. would this be the gas pump?
