What is better, I'm about to install one, but I don't know which is better for my stock?

...oh...here we go...

CAI, I would say. But, be cautious, there are many CAI that are labelled as such, but really, they're WAI. For instance, the one I picked up was labelled CAI, but, the filter isn't anywhere near the wheel well, or where fresh cool air comes in...

Well,

Supposedly, CAI gives you more power, WAI gives you a nice look and sound. But not one hundred percent on this, it would be my first try on Air Intakes (Dare say this IS my first car, at least, first one I chose and bought with my money) lol.

Also, what could be causing a banging sound on the motor? We just changed the oil and filter. It does this in the cold mornings only.

cai is more high end power. wai is more get up and go then it loses its power fast.

you will hear the WAI better inside the car, but CAI sounds better outside

i dont drive through 2 feet of water so i'm fine, my filter's 2 ft above the ground, and the filter must be completely submerged (end of CAI piping fully sealing with water) in order to suck up water into the engine. either way i'll be getting an AEM Bypass Valve juuuuust in case.

Do you need a bypass valve to install it, or can the CAI be installed straight out the box?

^To answer Malix's question: No. It's just recommended, if the filter is submerged, the bypass valve in your engine bay opens and air is sucked in through that non-submerged point until the filter is out of the water.

A CAI is also a PITA to clean and service the filter.

However it hardly needs cleaning, unless you're a moron and removed your wheel well liner.

However, if you drive on a dirt road at all then yes it does need cleaning quite a bit...even with the wheel well installed. Or what about salt and sand and sh!t in the winter time...plays hell on the filter, at least it did on mine.

HAHAHAHA, yea right dude. Mine needs to be cleaned a lot. Depends where you drive.....maybe you dont drive in places where theres a lot of dirt and shit, but i know i my filter needs a lot of cleaning....im just too lazy right now to take the wheel off and shit.

Um,

What happened to that car?

I'm starting to wonder if I should use WAI instead.

Um,

What happened to that car?

Sucked up water, hydrolocked. Water doesn't compress in the cylinders, so the stress blew apart the engine. Another reason why I'm leaning toward a bypass valve, juuust in case.

Yea,

Better safe than sorry....and with money to pay lol.
