Most people are always asking "how do i go from manual to auto windows"..well ive been through so many different motors, regulators, and window switches that im saying screw it..manual is the way to go
Has anyone done this and what all is it going to take? Ive replaced everything myself so im familiar w/all about everything in the door panel...just need some help how to do the conversion.

I don't know how much better they are. I've already had my regulator and the plastic clips replaced on my crank windows.
You really only need manual regulators and new door panels.

I completely understand what you are saying - have you tried replacing thes sashes and regulator with genuine GM parts?

yea multiple times so im figuring my best bet is to get rid of them as soon as possible...im going to head to the junkyard today and take a look at one of their gx alero's and see if maybe i can do the switch to manual

Not to thead jack, but...
is there any way of using motors/regulators/clips from another vehicle? kinda retro fit something into the car to make the system more stable?
i've noticed in both my parents cars, the windows roll up and down sealmessly with the car "on" and w/ it running. Yet, when mine is at idle or "on" i hit both windows up or down and it sounds like its completely draining my battery, not to mention the motors seem to sound like they are struggling...
did olds really just use the cheapest garbage they could find for our windows?

if you find out anything w/ different motors/regulators let me know cause after checking out the gx today, its gonna cost a lot of money to make the converstion to manual w/new door panels and everything so im prob just gonna have to stay auto

You might look into lubricating your regulator cables...just use a can of spray lube on the exposed part of the cables as you roll the window up and down. I'm gonna have to do this soon on my driver window, as the back part doesn't like to keep up with the front part, and the plastic grommets will prolly break soon if I don't do something. It's a good idea to do it before cold weather sets in on any regulator too, since frozen parts don't like to move as easily, then breakage ensues.

Keep the Auto windows, move forward not backwards. More work to go manual then it is to fix what is broke. You run the risk of having more problems in the future.
