I need to change my handbrake unit cause the raster function is not working anymore. I already got a new unit here, but:
How the hell do I remove the middle console...? I need to remove the shift knob to get the console out, but how do you remove it...????

just carfully pry it off with a flat head screw driver or something, its really easy.
if you need to remove the stock shift knob (if you have an automatic) theres a staple like pin in the back of it you will have to take out first, again a small flat head will work just fine

Yes, I saw in the front of the (automatic) knob a little metal clip, I tried to push it with a screwdriver, but nothing happened. Does it need to be pushed?
Is it some kind of clamp or bolt...?

the clip looks like a little staple... it pulls straight out.

OK, shift knob's no longer the problem.
What the fu** are those screws which holds the shift unit...???? :mad2:
Seems to be a kind of TORX but nothing fits :(
I'm not able to get any tool adapter here in Germany which fits for them ....
I think I have to go the next Chevi Dealer to get this stupid handbrake unit changed....
Anyone an idea?

That's a tamper-proof Torx. You either need to get the correct bit with the hole in the middle of it, drill a hole in the middle of a regular bit or grind that little nub off in the middle of the head of the screw.

I've tried 3 different sizes of that TORX bit with the hole in the middle, bought it here in Germany (where else :)) but none of them fit :(
Seems to be an american size, maybe not metric?

Torx don't come in metric or SAE...only T-xx, where xx is the size. Maybe you're missing that size

You could always drill it out

Yeah but I'm not very keen on drilling the hole out of the screw...
I found a bit set with nearly all sizes in it for less price at an online shop.
I will order it and then try again get this stupid thing out...
Thanks so far!

OK, it wont work. I've received the tool bit set and none of the tamper proof torx bits fit into these screws. :banghead:
I think I'll just drive to the Chevi dealer next week and let them change the hole unit....will be the easiest way.
Big thanx too all for the help.
