be sure to do lots and lots and LOTS of research before even thinking about this b/c it can and will get mighty expensive
There was a guy that did this with his GA but I can't remember who. It was red if that helps haha

It would be pretty cool if you did, and fast. Start looking on different fourms for more instalation info. if you can find it.

I saw that motor in a 99 Cavy in Quebec.
If you do it, you'll be the first. It can be done, but a lot of guys just talk about it

Kind of like how people talk about making a 3400 5-speed (which would be easier)...

exactly! its one thing to talk about it but to actually plan it and execute it is another! we will give you more input if we see pics and plans for this swap. and as stated above, you will for sure have to go to another forum to get more info on what should be done and taken into consideration so that nothing will be screwed up

it would be easier to just supercharge you 3400. those engines (3800 supercharged) are heavy and you will have to do alot of modding to make it fit and work right. if you had the time, money, and know-how, go ahead but if i had a 3400, i would supercharge that engine and build it up.

not worth it. As was stated the 90*v6 is a boat anchor. Also the one guy who did do it only made it to low 14's in the 1/4 anyways. So why waste 10k on that when for around 2-3k you could run mid to low 13's on a properly tuned custom turbo setup. And if you have the ability to swap a 3800 you have the ability to weld turbo manifolds.

3800 swap requires the tranny with it, otherwise the pcms wont communicate, so tranny add some axles add the motor......$$$$$$$$$$$ it might be worth it if you come accross them cheap cheap but the whole swap adds alot more weight, custom engine mounts are in order as well. its tough because of the idiot lights but it can be done, but the 3400 has equal potential.

its not heavier by much..... its not like putting a 350 (only if u had the money and if it would fit easy) in it where it would make the front end drop. (somebody did it in a saturn i know its not an alero but still gm)

im already at 14.9 with the 3.4 but its starting to fall apart plus i got a great deal on the 3800 supercharged only series 1 but it doesnt matter because i have the ecm pcm engine tranny and axles

there is still some stuff to get the getrag to work in an alero though its almost like doing an engine swap miss the cutting to get the gearbox in.

I would bet the (all aluminum) LS4 weighs in at least close to the (cast iron) L67

One guy up here in quebec is in the process of putting a 3800 SC in his Alero and fitting him with a 5 speed. So far, the motor is in.

i have no doubt the engine will fit in its just the wiring and some other factors. i made out pretty good though getting engine tranny and axles together.

well for $350 for engine tranny and extra supercharger with computer im sticking with the s/c 3800 engine :p :p :p its way cheaper then trying to buy it for like 1500+ for a supercharger that works on the 3.4 so i rather put $1000 worth of effort in it and go from there :p supercharger on the 3.4 brings it to like what just about the same as 3800 s/c stock?
ps: i didnt have to touch the engine at all until it was in the back of the truck :P i would have been able to tackle it though.

Just in general. It seems everyone wants to have the L67 for some crazy reason. Whether it's in W-Bodies, J-Bodies, Fieros, etc...

because they have lots of performance parts and upgrades for them all of a sudden :p :p :p and for the people who didnt know there are starting to be more series 1 parts.

So the do the 4 cylinder Ecotec engines, along with huge power potential, lighter weight and better gas mileage...

As much as this swap is speculated on, it's not done that often which means there is no "blueprint" except from what someone scrapes together. Once you scrape it together, you have to find a "reputable" shop to install it. I say reputable because your "everyday" performance shop will either (A) screw it up or (B) send you to the best in town anyway out of fear that they will screw up. And the most reputable is equal to the MOST EXPENSIVE. I remember reading the thread about the Canada Cavy years ago. It took over a year to get the car running due to figuring out the wires because if even one connection is miswired or unaccounted for, the car wouldn't start. In other words, a shop is going to charge you the "specialty rate", which loosely translate to "out the a-hole" for all this. Plus you have to have custom mounts for the tranny and engine "created" and "installed" which will probably have to be done at another shop. And the mounts for the suspension are going to have to be fabricated to handle the extra weight added to the body. And extra weight also means bigger brakes. And unless you're a professional mechanic with decades of experience, I seriously hope that you weren't planning to do all this in your garage or something.
Yes, you have the engine, tranny, S/C, and computer but you are sadly mistaken if you believe $1000 worth of effort is all this is going to take. And you're really gonna be sad if you do succeed only to be passed up by Aleros who spent less money and are still faster than you.

my neighbor and i build cars so yea we build bbc's ford engines and all. and last engine job we did in a saturn we took engine out and have other in it like 2 hours its not going to be a problem plus i been looking at wiring diagrams though its pretty simple using the wiring harness from the donor car and computers and just put it in mine and add in the speedometer cluster so i really dont see much problems. the engine mount is in the same area can make a plate and get it to work most likely. its only 100 or so pound difference and suspension is getting done to it anyways it really been needing struts for the longest time anyways.

anyways my alero is like a factory freak and has beaten its cars in its old racing days its only going to get better. there's more muscle cars around here and of course ricer hondas then aleros or grand ams for that matter

agreed, i looked into the L67 swap and its cool if you got the money but i can seen an equal potential out of the 3400 and the ecotec motors are a whole nother world of fun.
or just buy a different alero thats manual.

:whistle:Well, you have seem to have the whole beginning-to-end process warped up in a neat, easy-to-follow package. Well, just be sure to document every step so a blueprint will be available for any future enthusiasts. Heck, with you and your neighbor's track record, you guys could probably have it all up and running within a day, right? But definitely keep us posted. I would hate for anyone to think you were BS-ing:coolio:
