Hey there folks,
My girlfriend and I went on a camping trip friday, got our car all packed and then went to shut the trunk. Didn't latch. Shit! Three hour drive and no trunk. So, as of right now I have a bungie cord holding my trunk shut and two alpine amps sitting in it. I check GM parts direct for the latch and it's not even on their database. The part number is: 22669775 Some help locating this would be most appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Did you check the catch on it to make sure it hasn't been accidentally tripped while open? It's the piece that actually locks on to the striker when you close it. You can find out by using the key like your opening the trunk again...it'll click back out if it was closed. Otherwise, make sure nothing is pulling the emergency release handle, if equipped.

I wish it was that simple.......it's completely seized. We stopped at a garage on our way out and they said it needed a new latch.....I've tried everything....it's toast

Hey there where abouts in Ontario are you excactally? If your within driving distance of Cookstown then Cookstown Auto has like 11 trunk lids according to their site and you might be able to rape a latch off one of them or depending on the price buy the whole lid. Or you could try a scrap yard closer to you.

^^ yeah what he said, but call first, a lot of salvage yards around here don't have Aleros in them.
Maybe that's a good thing :D

Not too many Aleros in the yards around here either, but i bet Grand Ams and Malibus are plentiful and probably use the same part.

Hey guys just an update on my problem. I found the part through a dealership and they told me the part number had changed. So armed with the new number I began my search. Found it online at GMpartsdirect for $76.00 but they don't ship to canada. I found it on a couple other sites but they seemed kind of untrustworthy.
So I began calling wreckers, every wrecker wanted between $125-200 for the part and I forgot to mention new from GM was $249.99. So I was going to go with the $125 for the used one when a friend of a friend got me one used from a local wrecker for $50! So after all the hell and bungie cording my trunk with my amps inside I finally got the part and fixed it today.....meh, finding OEM parts for a decent price is tough! Thanks for the help though guys.
