OK how do you do it? No dipstick, just a plug.

Yes I've know this for the 7 years I've owned the car, but I couldn't figure out where the tranny fliud was comming from. I figured it wasn't a big deal since I didn't see any cuts or tares in the tranny coolant line.

Well today the tranny slipped. Nothing big, just a little slip. It just a long time for the soilnoid to catch due to low fluid, maybe like an extra 2 seconds and the motor revved to 2500 beofre shifting instead of 2000 under the same load.

I found a leak. It's the line, the top line comming out of the tranny and down to the raditor. The sand type looking crud on the bottom of the line, just above the wind deflector was on there for a while, so I'm not too sure how long this has been going on, or how much fluid I lost.

I have 3 quarts of GM tranny fluid in my shed, but I'm afraid to add any without knowing how much is in there. I'm not doing the plug thingy, and part of me is saying "If I lost enough to have these little slips, 1 quart isn't going to hurt it" I just don't wanna overfill this bitch.

I was thinking about talking to my mech about it on Monday. I've been buliding the Delta at his shop, so I'm there almost everyday. I know the line will have to be replaced.

What does everybody think I should do? I probably won't do much driving, if any, over the weekend. The wife's car is acting weird too, so I have to drive that tomorrow to try to figure out what ghost are in the machine

The only way I know is with the test plug: with the tranny fluid up to temperature and the motor running, be sure the car is level, and remove the test plug adjacent to where the passenger-side axle shaft comes out of the transmission. Fluid should just dribble out. If no fluid comes out, you are low. Any more than a dribble and you are over-full.
I miss tranny dipsticks.
My advice would be to have someone you trust check it for you.

I wonder if this is the cause of my tranny slippage issues?

Redog ... Let me know if that fixes your problem.

^^ Will do.

I'll check it at the shop on Monday. If that's the way way to check it, I can't do it in fornt of my house, car's too low and if I rasie it, it won't be level

Tranny holds 9.5 in the tranny, but with the convertor it's 13.

I'm not sure about the tranny itself, but I know it's 13 thru the convertor, the dealership told me that

i've been wondering how to check the tranny fluid level, this helps a lot. I'd like to know if it helps with slipping, my tranny slipped on me for the first time the other day and im hoping it doesn't get too bad.

Well, GM suggests changing the trans fliud every 60K for an auto, manual tranny you just don't touch
