Help w/ my 1st tune up!!!!

Im attempting to do a tune up on my 01' 2.4L Alero for the 1st time by myself, but Im not sure what I need. I got just bought 4 iridium spark plugs, but the folks at Auto zone told me I needed a wire set, but they didnt have it in stock, so I went to Advance Auto Parts, and they told me that I didnt need a wire set, because my car has a "boots" which is going to cost me $80 for all four plugs.....do I need wires or not? And what the hell is this "boot kit"? Please help!

if your getting new hotter sparking plubgs i would get the wire set aswell. you can also try some of the seafoam stuff if your going back to autozone. check your o2 sensor and replace the air filter
